Medical conditions that affect your work
« on: July 27, 2011, 06:55:22 pm »
I have been struggling now for a long time with serious pain in my right thumb joint, tips of my fingers and elbow joint on the right arm. After months and months of doctors/drugs (legit of course) and endless blood tests i have now been told that my best option is to have my right wrist fused as it is riddled with arthiritis.. :'(

The only problem with this is that i already have the left wrist fused after having my wrist broken over ten years ago.It hasn't been a problem really as i have allways compensated for lack of mobility with my right hand, but if this now has to be fused then i will really struggle. The options are to stay with the pain, and to be honest...as i am a woss  ;D,i dont want to be continually in pain or doped up to the eyeballs with tablets.
I have a lot of decisions to make in the very near future.

Have any of you guys had serious injuries (long term) that has affected how you work/if you work...and how have you managed to get through it all.....

 :)

i feel for ya mate i really do...

my dad had to retire early as he got riddled in arthritis, wich started in his thumbs im afriad  :(

he now has a knee joint replacment, a hip joint replacment, his toes and shoulder are fused also.
but i'll tell you what, he's still active very active he 76 yrs old too  ;D and he puts alot of young lazy kids today to shame!

so i would say you can take away a mans body but you cannot take away his constitution!

i trt to look after my body as i fear i may end up the same way, i take glucosomine sulphate pills (1 a day) for joint and conective tissue health and 1 strong multi vit and min tablet a day too

my advice would be do your own internet research and dont just take the docs word for it!

hope this as been some help mate!

all the best

Apart from pre-existing health problems, I have wrecked my thumbs, middle fingers, wrists and sinews in my right arm, elbow and shoulder since wfp.  I'm left handed.  Oh and my neck now has a turning circle of a plank of wood.
