New build cleaning charges
« on: July 13, 2011, 04:40:54 pm »
Hi

I was wondering if anybody could help me. I have received a phone call today to email over our price list for cleaning new builds. I was wondering what the going rates for Build cleans, re-cleans, sparkle cleans and site welfare cabin cleans are during the build stage?

Could anyone also tell me what a stock-plot - de dust and polish clean is too?
Thanks

You will have to visit each site and assess it on what you see. There are no set charges.

hi there

you want a set of site plans, a build program, and a copy of the spec they want, they might want a build clean, reclean, sparkle clean, or the same but with 2 recleans, or indeed a build clean and then a sparke clean,

they might also want another visit to detape windows.

with out knowing what they want i wouldnt quote.

also all site ops will need cscs, and you will need you CIS number, along with all your paperwork.

regards

Hi

Thanks Martin. That was a lot of help.

They just sent me a spreadsheet to give quotes. Dont know if we are basing our rates on right price. we werent sure whether to base our build clean £18 per hour, re-clean £12.50 per, sparkle clean £15 per hour. Is this price about right?

How long does it usually take u 2 clean a 2 bed, 3 bed etc if no debris to move first if you dont mind me asking?

Thanks a lot

Deana, you are wasting your time at the rates you  are considering.

Also, an hourly rate is an hourly rate, why would you charge more for each level of clean? The additional cost / revenue comes from the additional time spent. That said, you have to understand what you are quoting for as your price needs to be in well before any works commence.

Should you realise that you have gone in too low once works commence you will be stuck as there will probably some clause that stipulates that you are liable for any costs associated with sourcing a replacement contractor.

At best you should use this as a training excercise in quoting. Ask for site plans and house type drawings. Get a copy of the clean specification. Put your quote in, ask what else they require, ask for feedback (i.e. how much you were out). Once you have this knowledge you can approach your next ITT with more realistic expectations.

Most ITT's (invite to tender) will require you to satisfy strict criteria before your quote is even considered. You will need all sorts of things in place that from your post it would appear that you don't. This is in respect of H & S, Finance and Operations.

Hi Deana,

I notice you have signed in as a guest. Which area are you from? and what builders are you quoting for?If you haven,t done one of these before you will have to be careful. As already said, each site is specific. Some builders are very tidy others are the pits! At this moment I am quoting for a huge care home and its quite hard to get it right and I,ve been doing them for years now. I think I know al the pitfalls but there,s always another one that crops up on site. Usually you can do a nice costing then when you get there there is no water on site and you have to spend 15 mins getting it, things like that are normal. You will have to fill in loads of H&S stuff, PPE and Risk & Method statements and the list goes on. Quote as you see it and see how you get on, read the small print and understand what they are exactly asking for, then do your best.
