Hi to everyone. We just got a new contract, and Im interested to hear your opinions on just what machine, either type or specific, you would suggest. Will be purchasing one or two for this particular task which is :  approx 90,000 sqM of corridor carpets, vast majority of which are polyprop, to be done twice a year, numerous sites (29) buildings of varying heights, ( from 9 storeys to 30 )

have got a shopping list in mind, but always interested to hear other views and opinions,

Will you be bonneting or HWE'ing?

 first choice was planned to be hwe, with a bonnet set up as a back up

main issue i see with hwe, lots of grafting, but then again, there is with bonnet mopping too

what do you think ?

I would use a high powered porty/tm with a rx20   for badly soiled areas , then bonnet the rest , that is 20 acres nearly of carpeting.

I would use a prochem supernova or polaris   you dont want to be waving a wand around that lot you will end up like popeye

First option was to be the polaris 1200 or 800, although the supernova works backwards and forwards, i heard they might not be as manouverable as first thought, anuone got experience of the supernova ?

agreed, we thought the wand might be a bit much !
would also use the bonnet as a back up

No I have a polaris but if I had a nice contract like that I would invest in a supernova as from what I have read and know about the polaris it must be equal if not better

thanks for that Mark, but Steve, any suggestions for equipment if your processes were to be used ? and how about productivity ?

Mark, would you suggest the polaris is up to doing say, 1000 to 1500 SqM a day ?

Not sure on the encap productivity, Geoff Wrightson is the man to comment on that, but I'm sure it's high - in the region of 200m2 per hour but I stand to be corrected.

Machine-wise, it would be a three-headed Cimex scrub machine.

   nice one derek, so this chap, he used to teach at Hogworts did he ? 90,000 SqM over 30 buildings in a week ?  I heard of some fast workers, but just maybe that would be stratching it a bit hehe, then again, if he would do a weeks work for grand or two, we could still make money !   will give that some serious thinking about, thanks

I would look into a CFR Cascade if you think extraction will be required.

It's faster than bonnet cleaning and easier.

There is also the machine from the guys that import surround. I can't remember their names though. It's about £10k

It will all depend on what the smallest and largest areas are.

We have one site that has over 6 miles of corridors in it. We use a combination of the cascade and bonnet cleaning with dfc over the quarterly visits.

interesting, thanks.  there are a couple of quite tiny corridors, for example outside of some of the penthouse apartments, where the area can be as small as 25 SqM, the largest is probably a floor a just under 2M wide and just under 350M long

sorry, meant to add in last posting, although I have decided on the method, i am still interested to hear a) which back up system the users here preferred and b) which piece of hardware, as there are always many opinions to listen too, its always worth asking the question,

any portable will be a nightmare with such an amount of carpet, its an awful amount of filling and emptying. is there access to water and disposal on every floor?

a truckmount is not an option either, it has to be bonnet, encap' or something that has not been mentioned....
