Are gardiners poles really that good
« on: July 09, 2011, 08:59:33 am »
In next month or two I'm going to be replacing my predator pole and brodex 30ft pole, was looking to get a 25ft and a 40+ foot one, wanting to expand my business was also going to get a guter vac but think I should concentrate on the windows and building that up,a lot of trad workers here so they only do 2nd level stuff I obviously can do higher so a lighter pole with bigger reach would help,so are gardiners really that good or stick with brodex

I wouldn't buy another make of pole, I've never had a problem with them.

Over the years i have had loads of diferent makes of poles.

I now use Gardiners and unless someone brings out a pole which does the work for me I cant see me changing anytime soon

They may have few small issues with clamps but thats a small problem to put up with for the quality

once you buy a gardiners pole you wont go back to brodex/fibreglass poles as their just too heavy and cumbersome after using a gardiners one.

they are so much more user friendly and will cut down the amount of strain throughout your working day.also with an aqua-daptor fitted as well(just my opinion)youll speed up and finish work quicker.

ive got a hydra alloy 25footer.seems like a goodish pole but its damn heavy compared to the 25FT SLX.

SLX is the king of poles for domestics.the clx a close second if you want a cheap budget pole.

i have had a gardiners clx 22 and i have had problems, mainly the glue, i was disappointed in it but i think i had high hopes of what it would be like  ie weight,  as i never found the xtel heavy, but every one said that the clx was a feather comapre to the xtel,   but saying that  i would buy an other one as it is light enough to use all day and in the price range i would pay

alex elite poles are heavier and the ionic poles are more expensive for the 50% carbon fibre ones.i dont like ionics so they will never get my business.rip off merchants in my book!

maybe id be interested in the tecbuc poles but im not sure as you work for them dont you?and i dont like you really.i think your attitude stinks and its bang out of order at times.

gardiners will become even more successful and once they sort there availability issues out i can see them going from strength to strength.

Yes.

My personal preference for an all day pole is the slx25. I've used one for 4 years & it does everything from ground to 30ft with ease. After 4 years of daily abuse the top section is just about worn out now so I've ordered another. I used their SL2 modular for anything higher (which made the Facelift carbon feel like a tank) & I now use their SLXtreme 48 for high work- another world class product! ;)

I've owned or used many pole over the years including Ionics, unger, excel, Facelift, extender etc. Out of them all Gardiners are by a HUGE margin the best by far! ;)

I've not used these Elite poles, they look to be maybe the next best thing to a Gardiner pole however I'm a bit confused as to their claims of "producing" them when apparently there in another supplier now importing the same poles from China. So, my question would be- have WFPco really spent the time with R&D or are these poles just "off the shelf"?

ive had 2 chinese companies come and see me, both offer the same type of poles as all the above, the design part is a nonsense, theres just not enough profit in poles for us to invest.

Its a pole, theres no design, if you buy a cheap ready up wardrobe from argos for when youmove house, your see a sideward clamp on it, these are a off the shelf design.

Gardiners seem to be the innovators of the wfp industry at the moment. They were the first to bring out lateral clamps, and now others like ionic and elite have rather poor copies. Gardiners clamps take up much less space on the pole in comparison to others which means that for an equal open length the closed length is much shorter over a very long pole even using fewer sections.  Gardiners poles are designed by a window cleaner that uses them each week.

I've never had a problem wi gardiners clamps coming loose although I have had problems with other manufacturers, I accept that sometimes glue will fail but it then depends how the manufacturer deals with it.

In my opinion, the best pole will be the lightest most rigid and also be hard wearing with easy to use clamps. If some one says that another pole is say 20% heavier but still better than an slx then they probably not really a window cleaner, at least not a real one.

Pro window cleaners will almost always buy the best tools rather than the be phased by price. As they realise that the pole will earn the price difference back before long. I recently went from the slx to the slx xtreme range and it's already earned it's keep.

It's good to see competition out there, but the question related to gardiners being good, in all honesty gardiners are the best.

Simon.
