Hi there, water meter fitted today, I use a merlin and use about 650 liters aday, someone told me for every liter produced the merlin puts 2 down the drain thats 1950 liters aday, any idea how much it will cost anyone, any solutions, harvesting water not really an option, how can i slow down the meter.

I think I have the same problem coming soon as well. DI only would cost about £5 a day in resin for me. Thats actually not too bad.

Approx £4.50 round here for that volume of water. Check out what your pence per square meter price is. A square meter is 1000lt

For me it's £1.47 per 1000 litres, plus the same cost for sewage. So each time I fill the 1000 lire tank it costs around £6 to £8 depending on how much waste is given off the system. I just "value" it as a tenner a time.

Sorry to bring you bad news but I use a Merlin and the waste is loads more than 2 litres for every one produced. I suppose it depends on your tds going in but I reckon its at least 3 litres waste for each 1 litre of pure water, and thats on a good day!

if you can collect as much rainwater as you can to save on your water bill I just worked it out that I can collect about 3000 L of rainwater which will last me four weeks because I cleaned just upstairs with WFP and traditional downstairs my bag of resin  lasted me two years ;)
