Self employed with an employee
« on: July 02, 2011, 11:02:03 am »
Operations Water Harvest and Do Less are coming along nicely. But mean that except for Hols I'll be working like a nutter for the next two months.

Now this employing lark:-

Any reason why I shouldn't stay self-employed and actually employ (as in properly, on the books, insured etc) someone. At present I want to stay under the VAT limit and so with another small income stream I have I reckon I can pay myself and another geezer and keep my turnover below the VAT limit even with some expansion.

Thoughts please my friends?

Just make sure you get employers liability insurance sorted.  Unless you're going to take someone on a self employed basis

even then you still need employees liability insurance

Malc it is pretty easy you just phone HMRC and they will send a disc that works it all out for you, get the insurance and away you go, nothing complicated at all.
