lad just knocked at my door & asked me to quote to clean the windows on a new house he's just built - its on 2 levels, the front has 1 dormer & 3 bottom windows & a big glass front door, the gable end has 1 window at top & 2 at 1st floor , back has 2 dormers at 1st floor &  3 windows & a patio door at ground  if i was just cleaning the outsides i'd charge £15  for outs wfp & £30 for in & out    -- but i've no idea how to price for a builders clean or what to look for when pricing  i'm supposed to see him in the morning so any advice would be a massive help

depends so much on what's on the windows, plaster comes off fairly easily but cement on outside can be a right pain. I agree with the scratch disclaimer post too. I used to do loads for a company and they tried blaming me for scratched glass until I demonstrated that I know how to clean a window without marking/scratching and had for years. It always takes longer than you think with builders' cleans!!

thanks for all that, would never of thought of a scratch disclaimer.    now there is a pvc front door that had a protective plastic film covering on all last winter & when the builder stripped it off its left lots of white marks on the door which he cant get off & wants me to shift,  he says its cos the film froze onto the door     wpuld tfr work & whats the best way to shift cement from the frames please !! i was thinking lots of soapy water & pan scrubs

sharp blabe for glass, blunt (thicker looking)  blade for plasic! i think this is right?

used to get some glue remover from builders merchants;
well worth 4 pounds.
dont touch them now

Im going to tell you a secret I use autoglym tar remover. this will remove any sticky residues from film, tape and most other builders stuff.
Make sure you have a decent scraper with lots of spare blades, when scraping the glass use really soapy water to lubricate the blade and wipe the blade clean after every scrape.
Price well and as the others stated scratch disclaimer because you will put one somewhere even if very faintly.
