Do You Have A Window Cleaner?
« on: July 01, 2011, 08:57:28 pm »
I do. Never get around to cleaning my own windows as I can always find an excuse not to. I started cleaning a friends house, who was a trad, to show him what WFP could do in about 4 mins unlike his trad cleaning of his own house, (some 3 storey stuff, multipane windows etc), which took him about half an hour when he could get motivated enough. He went WFP and picked up his neighbours houses but didn't want them so swapped some local work with me. Upshot is, I clean his house and he cleans mine. Seems to work well too.

Anyone else do this?

Thought a quid a window was the going rate nationwide.

another one then  street of ex councils iv got about 8 houses, theres about 40 houses in street,i charge £6 each monthly, other windys are charging £4 and a women next door to one i clean has said hers charges £2.50 for the last 10 years  :o

gav lammy knows how poop the prices can be in stoke thats why he left  ;D,

there are places (nice estates) that you can charge more, but i feel im at the highest prices i can go with @ 75p as even some of the ones i price now i dont get them

You need to value yourself more highly Jackal.

prehaps your right mate i dont no,but some lads on here need to realise that other areas of the country can get better prices, for instance ian101 has a min of £10 and takes loads on at £12 there is no chance i could do that i would be charging more than double the going rate for my area,by the way im trad, but cant see how i could charge £10 when others are £4,5,6, i could proberly get them on bi-monthly for that "maybe"

iv got alot of compact £5-6 jobs normal semi's and i no if i tryed to push them up by a £1 id lose alot the following few months after, and i dont like the idea of losing my compact work as i class this as my bread and butter,my plan is to keep taking more work on and start offering bi monthly aswell as monthly then slowly offer bi monthly to my existing customers at 40% extra,(when i take a new monthly on then offer 1 of my other custys bi-monthly)

Why i left Stoke too ;D moved and set up else where

Its over saturated with window cleaners. My brother set up a round, but gave it up in the end as the pricing was crap and all over the place.

I live with my parents so don't actually have my own house but I always clean the windows where I live usually every 4-6 weeks.

Yes, but you don't have the overheads involved when you clean your own, so of course your rate would be much better than asking another Wc'er to do it for you :)

I clean my own, but I'm thinking of sacking myself, 'cos I'm so unreliable.

When we moved into our new place at the beginning of March the windows were filthy, really really bad... I took about 1.5 hours (3 bed semi) cleaning them inside and out - But I haven't touched them since!  ;)
