Hi just wondered what you all pay for van insurance and road tax.

I have just re-newed my van insurance £587  gone up nearly £90 from last yr

I have ford escort diesel 75 endura, 10 yrs old in nov.

Insurance is fully comp with breakdown cover (home and away), replacement van cover, windscreen cover, £250 excess; also added named driver (mrs)

also have protected ncd cover; legal cover and key cover (key cover free)

This was was broker commercial veichle direct(broker); insured with axa.

Oh yeh my road tax s due at £215 for yr (roughly :)

will get 6 months

What are the cost for 1.3 multijet fiat or alike roadtax (especially)
I know insurance will vary due to many factors; i'm 40 yrs young

I have a 1.3 doblo ('07) multijet. Best van I've had, superb & economy brilliant!

However, the road tax situation is stupid. It depends when it was manufactured (yes, really) mine is £215 per year, Malc gold's (same van but 2 months older) is less than that!

Quite true winproclean - if your Doblo 1.3 is registered pre 31st Dec 06 and the road tax is Euro 4 I think and only £125 per year. Then from 1/1/07 until the latest model came in last year the tax goes up. The latest is Euro 5 I think and lower again.

My insurance - spouse and me - has gone up to over £400 this year, I don't bother with legal cover or key cover but my breakdown cover is separate (My RAC covers a small car derived van as a car under my family breakdown cover - and I've used it on my van twice for punctures and once when I got stuck on muddy grass cleaning an old peoples home! £142 I think and covers 4 adults and a child in whatever car/motorbike they are travelling whether alone or together.)

I got mine new in Oct 06 and I've only done 26000 miles - no real problems other than a new starter motor under warranty and a side door jammed shut about a year ago which cost me about £90 as some plastic catch broke and I got the local garage to buy and fit a new one. Oh, a part of the drivers window assembly jammed and a new one fitted cost about the same.

Original battery is getting tired and as my work is mainly stop start and I reverse up my drive on the clutch every day it wouldn't surprise me if that needs doing in the not too distant future.

But at coming up 5 years old in October it's been excellent and averages 40 mpg according to the computer round my urban round and 50 mpg when I go out in the country.

ive got a fiat doblo 57 reg its a 1.9 multijet pulls like a train even when fully loadsed and tax is 200 for a year, insurance is 350 quid and im 26 with 5 years no claims and a clean license no accidents

mine averages nearly 50mpg so is cheap to run,
the doblos are very good vans get rid of your old knacker ford escort and upgrade!

It's worth looking at the difference in premiums between fully comp and TPO.  For any vehicle over about 7 years old, the fully comp element isn't worth it - should you have an accident and it isn't possible to repair the vehicle, the payout from the insurance doesn't go anywhere near covering the cost of a comparable vehicle by the time you take off the excess.

I've had mine 15 months & I'm still amazed by the little power plant! It's actually a 1250cc turbo diesel & is no less powerful than the 1.9 (non-turbo) Kangoo I had before it!

I have a 400ltr tank + trad gear & it copes with this no problem. I get around 48/50mpg if I drive steady fully loaded. The drive is also superb, very smooth & quiet.

That sounds great im looking to get a van, and that sounds perfect for me, ive only just got into wfp, i carry it using 25l barrles at moment but want a van with a tank .

the 1.3 even though it is only 75bhp, it has 140lb ft of torque at 1750rpm so will pull whatever weight you put in it fairly easy,

the 1.9 multijet which i have is 105bhp but has simular torque at 147lb ft so really doesnt matter if you have the 1.3 it wont be underpowered

Sounds like the fiat doblo multijet is a great little/medium van for wfp.

i use new astra van, same 1.3 turbo diesel engine as doblo but its a hell of a lot better behind the wheel, road tax is £120 per year and insurance is £400 per year with performance direct. i only use trolley system so the lack of height in the back doesnt bother me

oh, and its got a 6 speed box and get nearly 60 mpg from it

nope tried for weeks.

a q7 would be about 2.5k alone.

vans insured properly with system declared are more than 1250 each.

i do have a young driver on the vans and any one over 25 on all vehicles though and one theft claim
