Hi All,

What products are best for office cleaning?  Advice appreciated as just got 2 offices to clean (I usually do domestic cleans).  Whats the best for computer keypads, screens etc.  Thanks in advance.

Please tell us you haven't agreed to clean computers and keyboards on your sites?!  This doesn't normally get scheduled with office cleaning as it is a specialised add on.  The only thing you should possibly be doing with these is dusting the top and stand of the screen unit with a lambs wool!

If you are going into office cleaning you need to decide the services you will be supplying, for general cleaning products you should get yourself a supplier who can supply you with everything, chemicals, mopping systems, cloths etc it is much easier to take one delivery in the early days. I use Dysys chemicals and find their chemicals exteremly good, their web site isn't brill but take a look http://www.dysys.co.uk/

You could also give express a ring, they will advise you and supply.

I always include this in my quotes................

"Our cleaning of office equipment will be confined to the dusting of flat surfaces away from control panels, keyboards and other sensitive areas".

We always made sure the computer was switched off.....looking for the usual signs of activity.....and with just a duster wiped over the keyboard and monitor. It gets very dirty with food crumbs etc under the keyboard and both items collected a lot of dust. Nothing like a really clean and tidy desk with dust caked monitor and keyboard.
However, as regards cleaning the monitor and keyboard properly/professionally, i would go along with the other two posters before me and not touch it.....bit unfortunate if you broke an item or wiped all their data off the system!!
Having said that, i used to buy an sell computers years ago and fell confident enough to wipe over keyboards etc.

Also, your insurance almost certainly wouldn't cover you for cleaning monitors.

Sorry for the late reply guys but I'm new to this forum and just did a quick topic search!

I run a specialist computer cleaning company and I have to say be very careful when agreeing to clean the computer and IT equipment.  The main reason for this as mentioned before is the insurance aspect.  We have a specialist computer contractors policy to cover us so I doubt very much that a standard policy would cover you.

By the way, the best thing to use for light dusting on keyboards and the top of monitors is a lamb's wool duster.  They have excellent dust removing power and are safe to use on computer equipment.

Leave them well alone!

I usually write this in my quotes..............

That normally gets you out of touching screens and keyboards.

As my business partner stated earlier we have specialist computer insurance so we can clean them without a worry and obviously fully insured.

If though you are looking for products to clean the screens we sell exactly what we use on our website and the plasma/tft/lcd cleaning kit is especially good removing all marks with one spray and an e-cloth to wipe over.
