Downpipe
« on: June 16, 2011, 11:18:43 pm »
A customer has asked me to clean their downpipe. I advertise on my leaflet that I clear guttering but I've never had to do the downpipe. What is the procedure? I don't have the equipment to do it but was wondering if I would be able to it with your advice?

Cheers

Do you mean clean or clear downpipe?
If you need to clear it then you may need to take it apart (or if you want to cheat, get a short length of hose pipe and put it down the outlet and force it through the blockage.....not that Ive done this  ;D).

When doing gutter clearing now I offer the customer the optional extra of installing "gutter balloons" that go in the downpipe, to prevent further blockages.

like these....

just go and have a look at the job iv done down spouts which are just normally blocked on the bend they normally pull apart and some just have 1 screw holding them together could be a very easy job,but some can be solvented together which is a pain so get what you can out and spray water the rest down

Sorry, yeah they've asked me to clear it. To be honest I don't know what I'm doing so I think I'll just steer clear. Thanks for your help.
