im debating getting a static set up rather than van mount due to the fact that it will tie my van up, which is my only means of transport. i have a garage too!

what do people with experience of this think?

dont feel i need to carry all that extra kit in van using space and fuel so i have a static ,also if you have a crash your purifing kit still at home

Definitely static  you have no other transport.
Also, if your van was off road for a while, at least you could do backpack and containers from a hire van because you would still have your purifying equipment.

can anyone give me a good reason for a van mount? the obvious is if your havnt got a garage, but i have!

if you were doing a lot of work away from home you might want to make water as you work

If your doing big commercial jobs and might run out of water,and the site has access to water for you to refill,or people that don't have facilities to store a static system. Can't really think of any other decent reasons!

Static setup for me too as I use a pumped RO & its just too much hassle getting water & power & waste lines hooked up to the van each evening. Plus a static RO can be running 24 hours a day if you want so a smaller (Cheaper!) unit will do the trick. A good sub pump & wide bore hose will let you fill the van tank in 5 mins flat.

I do carry a DI in the van, just in case I run dry on a big job. I've never used it yet, but handy to have just in case I need instant pure water.

static for me, a £30 delivery pump will pump 500litres to you van tank/barrells in less than 10 mins.
You can go on producing pure all day long when your out to work, plus you can use you van at any time
Its a no brainer.
Also because you dont need to produce water that quickly, you only need a 300gpd ro from say pure freedom for around £150, and a ibc tank for about 30 to 50 quid second hand

I run a 2000litre slim-line static tank and it gets filled over the weekend and that will keep me going all week...have a water heater inside it with a thermostat for the winter (also pump on timer to circulate water). In the event you get a really big job consider renting a trailer and putting a tank in it as a temporary fix.

Having a van (all in) is for most people having all your eggs in one basket.

Even if I could start again I would not have a complete van system.

Yes it's a good idea to make sure that your van tank can carry enough for a full day if you have a static unit.  For the very rare occasions I might need more water, I carry a DI vessel in the van.  An expensive way of doing it but it would only be for a small amount of water in order to finish off.

yeah im thinking it will be alot of inconvenience having a van mount, how much floor space will i need to use in my garage for a static set up roughly?

If prepared to pay more, it's possible to get a slimmer, taller tank too (takes up less floor space).  I got one myself but that was because a standard IBC wouldn't have fitted through the door.
