If so how do you sort out gear storage/water production?

Yes, I'm in a flat.
I rent a place several miles away to do my filtering and store my stuff.
Well, you did ask  :) .
It wouldn't be practical to do it here.  I can't even be sure that I can park in the same street as were I live, never mind being able to get close enough to transfer water.

One thing I did consider - and might have tried if I hadn't found an alternative - would have been to pay the water company to fill from their hydrants.  With a very fast RO in the van it may have been feasible.
I even considered getting a much larger van and having a twin tank system.  Fast fill tank 1 from mains.  Pump water from tank 1 to tank 2 through RO.  I'm sure it could be done with a bit of forethought - even while driving.  Waste would need to be stored temporaRILY AND DUMPED OF COURSE.  It would need split chargers and several leisure batteries so that they could be swapped for manual charging.
Complex, so it would need to be planned well.

i live in a first floor flat.hose from bath tap, down the stairs, through twin DI s and straight into my 350L TANK.

very simple and takes around an hour to fill with pure ready for the days work.i have a storage compartment next to my front door for storing DIs/spare poles, brushes, hose etc etc.

my tap tds is only 30-35 so i only use two 25kg bags of resin a year.works well for me.

I'm not in a flat, but am mid terraced with alll water & drainage at front and drive with van at rear. Long footpath to front only (no vehicle access) Getting water to the rear is a real problem. Could set something up in front garden but would have to daily pump through house, ok now I suppose but dont think family would appreciate doors open for ages in the winter. And by the way Tap water TDS 367!

Sort that one out!!

So am buying water.

I suppose it all depends what style of flat you have....sound like the stairs belong to you and are not communal. Would not be viable for loads of reasons with communal areas and stairs involved :)
