Rotary systems and price of job??
« on: June 12, 2011, 01:34:42 pm »
Hi guys.I currently only have a HWE system, however I have the chance to quote for a 6 monthly contract for offices of 1200 square metres of carpet tiles.I would therefore consider investing in a LM  Rotary system should I get this job.

My dilema is doing it HWE will take longer than LM and my initial quote will be based on HWE.However I could do the job faster with LM and therefore dont want to jepodise the chances of getting this job.I wouldnt want to buy any LM system until I k new the client was happy and I knew I had the job every 6 months.

Can someone advise on the different time scales involved in doing HWE and LM for an area that size and what would I expect to pay for a decent LM system.

Thanks

Wayne

Hi Wayne

Just had a similar experience to you. I was asked to quote for 700 sq metres of completely open office tiles to be cleaned every 3 months. I knew it just wouldn't happen if I pressed for HWE and therefore it was time for me to invest in LM. I based my quote on the assumption I would be cleaning using LM

As I've only ever done HWE uptil now I had exactly the same thought patterns.

The job took less than half the time it would have taken with HWE and I reduced my price accordingly. Although it was less money when equating it to £ per hour generated it still worked out better than HWE and also I was nowhere near as tired at the end of the job than if I had HWE'd it.

I was reasonably confident I would get the job but like you didn't want to invest if I didn't get the job. I talked through different LM set-ups with some other cleaners and then had a chat with John Kelly at Restoremate.

I knew John could deliver the machine, pads and chemicals within 3 working days so it was only a question of ensuring that once the contract had been agreed that I ensured the first clean didn't happen until my new machine arrived.

Since I knew my new set up would be paid for sometime during the second clean I had no intention of going second hand, but as I don't do a great deal of LM I went for a fairly basic set-up which I knew would be more than good enough for this job and which would cover me for any similar jobs in the future. Again talk to John about your own particular preferences/requirements.

I use a 17" Victor rotary and it is great.    I think I paid about £120 or so for it a few years ago.

I have a few pads to choose from, Texatherm cotton, Solutions microfibre and one grey XR Super Scrub Pad which is great when needed.    Currently I favour the Texatherm ones (£150 for 10 which is a good price).

I tend to favour Fusion Clean from solutions but that is because it was the first thing I tried when getting in to bonneting and it worked so well. I do have Prochem Pureclean and Bonnet and Buff too and both are also reported as good, although I am yet to try them out.

I would honestly recommend keeping initial costs down by buying a used standard speed 17" Victor. Shop around and u will drop on a good one.

The bonnet cleaning package looks good
value on the Restormate site.
Probably cost you that for the rotary and
tank brand new.
