keeping it simple to reduce weight in van

so guys my van has a 625kg payload so im trying to keep things as simple as possible to be within the van weight limits.

350L TANK(375KG INCLU TANK WEIGHT WHEN FULL)

TROLLEY(50KG)

HOSE/REEL(30KG)

TRAD GEAR(20KG)

LADDERS(25KG)

WARNING CONE(10KG)

ME(110KG)

all that lot takes me to 620kg and doesnt include fuel and roofrack so it looks like i should not fill the tank to the brim and fill to around 300L so ill be slightly underweight overall.of course as the day goes on itll get lighter and lighter.also i wont be able to give anybody a lift with a full tank in the back or i will be overweight unless i take trolley and hose reel out.

i know one thing ill be making sure i get a van with a bigger payload when i get another. ;) ;D ;D

You probably will find that you will use your trusty trolley less and less as time goes on. When you do use it you will find that decanting water from your main tank is time consuming.

Also your 350 liter tank won't hold 350 liters as the baffels take up volume. I expect your tank will hold about 330 liters so you have a 20kg saving there.  ;D ;D ;D

I also don't think your trad gear weighs 20kgs either, but nevertheless you will be well advised to plan your day and take only the necessary equipment you need for that section of the round.

I think you have over estimated a few things, like ladders unless they are wooden 25kgs is a bit much, trolly, is it really 50kgs, hose reel, trad gear. Must be one big cone, but better to be safe than sorry.

You haven't got any vikan brushes have you, that might just put you over.  ;D

why dont you just load it up fully then take it to a weigh bridge to find out exactly how much it weighs?

as above Any HGV hauliers will have a weighbridge.Leave the water out and then just add 350kg. Get each axle weighed as well.
I squeezed a 350L tank into the back of the Berlingo multispace  ::)

Just thinking daz...you said your trolley will weigh 50kgs but wont it be empty?? I dont know how much they weigh empty but surely not that much ??? And sorry to hear about the mrs mate, hope everything turns out ok!

i included the battery weight in with the trolley.ok i was generous with the trad gear weight but im including a toolbox/pump for tyres and towrope in with that.

the bright spark who said just get another van well im saving up for one!but ive already spent a fair whack on this one getting new clutch,brakes and getting it through another MOT so ill be keeping it for a while yet.

ive never even heard of a weighbridge near me.there must be one somewhere but how do they calculate it?as the van weighs a certain amount so how will i know an accurate load weight?! ???

i tell you one thing the van "rocks" back and forth with half a tank full when driving it!!is this normal?not used to it i suppose. :P :P.

spruce i wont be using the trolley at all anymore.its in the van cos im using the pump,battery and  digital varistream thats on it with the 2 drop pipes going straight into the tank via the top filler lid.

Sorry, I forgot you were using trolley in that mode. Wouldn't it be simpler to strip the pump battery and Varistream off of it and fit them into the van? It would give you more space.

I can see one place that you could save quite a bit of weight ... unless you're 7 foot 6 inches.

yeah it would spruce but id probably knacker it up.DIY not one of my strong points!dont like the idea of messing about with them and finding myself  having to shell out more money!ive already spent a tidy sum over the last year on WFP.some of it ive wasted like aluminum/fibre glass poles and vikan brushes!!

are there any utube vids of anybody dismantling a trolley of pump,controller and battery? ???

im actually 117 kg!(nearly 18 and a half stone!).im 6ft 2in.could do with losing some but im not fat really.its more muscle which is heavier than fat! ;) ;D ;D ;D

Most scrapyards have a full size weighbridge. Plenty of them about. You could park the front and back wheels on it seperately as well to get a weight for each axle.
