Ninja high pressure sleeved solution hose
« on: June 04, 2011, 03:44:49 pm »
Hi Guys

I think my solution hose is coming to the end of its life. Just had a spectacular split whilst on a job with water being pumped out all over the place.  :o I've had it repaired at Pirtek but I think I really should buy a new hose as this one is now only about 22 feet long!

I've looked at Ashbys web site but they appear to only sell hoses in sets ie. solution hose and vacuum hose together.

I need the 7.6 metre (25 foot) high pressure hose (to cope with 400 psi) and it needs to be sleeved to protect carpets and upholstery from the heat.

Does anybody know if Ashbys will sell me just the solutiuon hose or where I can buy such a hose?

BTW Pirtek said they couldn't help!

Phone ashbys on Monday, I'm sure they can make you up a new one, I think the buy it in on la rge reels and just fit the end couplings on.
Cant see it being a problem.

Mr B
If in doubt.....Leave it out !!

if possible i never buy hardware from carpet cleaning suppliers, they work on the fact we don;'t know the actual trade supplier from which they buy it...... so make 20-30% just by reselling what we need

solution line can be bought cheaper from hydraulic hose, fitting & repair suppliers, you just need to find one that is helpful.

the amount of times suppliers have tried to sell me stuff that they are just ordering from duel pumps often they don't even touch it.... it comes direct

Really? thats strange. Was it the Orings that failed? Could you have bought higher rated Orings to replace them with?

I wouldn't right the seller of straight away, seems to sell the exact same stuff as other carpet cleaning suppliars (a quick connect is a quick connect) just that he has less overheads i presume.

A few other guys on here buy from him too.

Bit of a kick in the teeth from a moderator to the companies that financially support this forum.

and you're  the worst you robbing git ;) ;)

by the way which companies are you referring too?

how many things do restormate sell that they never touch? things that they take the order for then just get on the phone order it from the supplier, who deliver it direct,  then you add on a profit for making the phone call

could these items be ordered direct to save money?

BUT...BUT...BUT!!!

John this is not a dig at you or any other supplier, To buy and resell is the cornerstone of modern shopping its is the basis for all things that are sold. Tesco, sainsbury etc..etc  buy then resell. companies like restormate offer convenience and ease of shopping.

the point I was making and you got all in a huff about is another concept of shopping....... freedom of choice, I choose to try and save money by looking for ways to buy direct and cut out the middleman

Hi Guys

Many thanks for your comments-I enjoyed re-reading the thread before writing this reply.

The repair by Pirtek was poor-they hadn't cut back sufficiently to ensure they were beyond the weak part where the burst had occurred-so I had to go back to them!

In fairness they did say, as I was speaking to a different employee, that yes they could make up some hose for me, and with quick connects and heat sleeve all in it would come in at just under £80.

Meanwhile I had spoken to Ashbys and confirmed that you could just buy solution hose £125+vat, as oppossed to solution and vacuum hase set £160+vat.

So who did I go for and why?

I went for Ashby's because I know that what I would get would be right, there was no delivery charge (as oppossed to yet another trip to Pirtek (time and petrol costs) and I could have it the next day. (It arrived this morning as promised having been ordered on Monday.)

So I could have saved myself about £70. A lot of money to some people but since the last hose lived for over 5 years in the grand scheme the extra money is really nothing and besides which it ultimately helps support Ashbys without whom I wouldn't have a great machine. (I know that there are many on here who have probably wasted a great deal more on chemicals and gear they have bought and tried and which now sit at the back of the shed doing nothing. So everything should be regarded in perspective.)

Cheers.

You may not be aware Ian, but ourselves and at least 12 other companies now pay for a presence on here.
