Well I just asked my ladders why they were banned :o and they said it was for posting swear words on CIU :o but they promised they would behave in future if they could come back on.

EXACTLY

I like water fed pole with it ease of use and efficiency of cleaning, but then i also like trad for its sentimental charm with the customer and low running costs

but which is best

theres only one way to find out

that might be worth seeing if the window is at height

Youd never beat terry on ground floor, however at height maybe!

But then he cant climb a ladder BECAUSE THERE BANNED

You should've been a member of this site in 2004, just prior to the WAHR 2005 were published, and for a good while longer.

And Newsnight did two items on the 'ladder ban' that specifically affected window cleaners.  They had to do a second one because of the furore from whining window cleaners; and The Fed got a load of stick because they had a guy on National TV saying that a WFP won't remove bird poo from windows (remembering that WFP was still fairly new, and guys had spent a lot of time convincing customers that it worked, only for the Fed to say it didn't).

It was an interesting time in the annuls of window cleaning.  I've made notes for a history book I plan to publish; I expect it to be a best seller.

The window cleaner bloke was also up at ladder which was clearly at a dangerous angle.

Sigh.... those were the days when the wfp v trad and the 'if you go up a ladder you will die' arguments got seriously heated.

;D ;D ;D Was cleaning a custy last week who had their parents over to visit from UK for a couple of weeks. The father comes out to chat while we were cleaning. Moan about this and that then the subject goes to window cleaning in UK. "Yeah, can't use ladders in UK now, they're banned".

Oh yeah? who told you that, says me. "My window cleaner told me". Ah says me, that's what they tell you so you can't complain about them using those rubbish pole and bog brush thingies. If ladders were banned etc etc etc.

So after about 15 minutes of chatting and tea drinking, off we go. Nice to get the odd shot in when you can. 8)

He was from Leeds by the way. ;D ;D ;D So if you boys up in Leeds get some ear ache from a custy who was just over in Germany visiting ..........................................

Oh yeah, nearly forgot. Was down town shopping last week when all of a sudden, hundreds of police turn up at this B&Q type of store and took all the ladders away. They're are banned. Hundreds of people die every year here because when they are in burning buildings and not on the ground floor, the firemen can't use ladders to rescue them.

Yeh, and I've used ladders in full plain view of two policemen, and they didn't arrest me or nothing, so ladders aren't banned.

You aren't allowed to use them for that if there is a viable alternative. So you would be arrested for using a ladder.

Should be, but won't be.

Health & safety only prosecute AFTER an accident. They like to kick you when you're down,..  ::)

Ah but............ you must have a suitable alternative to using ladders with you which you must consider using. Then if you consider it unsuitable for the temporary working at height job to be carried out, then.... then you can use a ladder.
