ADDING TANK AND HOSEREEL!!!
« on: May 29, 2011, 08:55:39 am »
the time has come guys!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

been wfp a year now but dont want to be lugging around the trolley all the time.it will be defo handy for some jobs but im going to try a full van mount!!

sticking with the kangoo for now so was thinking:

250L LAYFLAT TANK

GARDINERS 100M MICROBORE HOSE and LIGHTWEIGHT HOSEREEL.

i will be carrying say two 25L barrels as well giving me 300L a day.

so will it be ok to leave the trolley in the van and simply hook it up to the tank?i want the microbore on the hosereel to fit straight on the end of my trolley hose(rectus 21 connector).will i be able to do this as most fittings on hosereels are hoselock connections arent they?i dont want to change the connector as i will need the trolley for some jobs thus cant change it.this could be a problem.

also i need to make sure of the measurements first before buying a tank.another thing is i need to secure it in the van.

rachet straps?i really havent much of a clue.i was thinking of asking the local mechanic to bolt it in the back for me.

any advice would be welcome guys.and do any of you use your trolley hooked up to a tank and how do you go on hooking your 100m microbore to your trolley hose(as mines rectus 21).

many thanks in advance guys

best wishes to you all

buy streamline microbore hose. It may cost extra but it is worth it.

If you are getting a flat tank, rachet straps are ideal.

You can easily remove it when you need to carry bulky things in your van, also when you need to clean inside the tank as it gets green.

Hi daz

You see now you know how trolleys have a short shelf life.

I always say go straight for van mount, and yes I did start with a trolley,!
But after a few months.......it's a wake up call !

Remember, as big a tank as poss, and if you have room, put static tank in garage or garden shed

If in doubt.....Leave it out !!

daz all you will need is a couple of 6mm to 13mm barbs and the relevant rectus fittings, I don't know the pure freedom trolleys to say exactly how to do it but I did it with a peter fogwill trolley without any hassle, when I did it peter supplied all the bits required and I am sure pure freedom would do the same if you tell them what you are doing

Gardiners 6mm microbore on a brodex reel which comes with a rectus swivel inlet which makes it easier to manage as i like to lift my reel in and out so i can point it where i like.

hands up i do apologise groundhog! ;) ;D ;D ;D

onto tanks.ive measured my van and its 45inches wide at the thinnest part(between the wheel arches.i reckon a 350L layflat will fit in with room left for the trolley/trad gear.i will only fill tank up to around 300L(PAYLOAD 625).i will ring pure freedom up next week.

do you guys think ill be able to get rachet straps from the same supplier?(pure freedom)?not sure exactly how this will work though.when i ring them up ill tell them the make and model of van and tell them exactly what im planning on doing!

do you guys think ill be faster once im used to the van mount?i know im getting tired of lugging the barrels about and keep swapping them!

cheers everyone

Van mount for me then with a back pack. ;D

Dazmond I was taking your lead with the trolley, getting some really good advice from here NOT to go trolley - and now you are changing to a van mount

My question now is how many houses (on avaerage) will 300 litres clean?

backpack wise - you cant go wrong with the esr16 from john hewitts site!

really good and robust, 5 speed water flow controller and a charge lasts a good 2 days no probs

Sorry but for constant regular work the trolley just isnt a good option, back breaking work. Van mount is only way.

Lads just started with me who has a small round and hes been doing it with a trolley for last 2 years and he has no motivation to do it. Took him out other day to do his in my van and he said "this is a dream" . YES youll be faster and youll be less knackered at end of day! Lugging around a trolley and barrels all day long aint good fun.

Trolley/backpack for the odd window here and there, out of reach ones etc and if your stuck without a mount.

Van mount for fulltime.

At the rate I use water (5 lpm pump on full flow) I reckon u could do 15, 3 or 4  bed detached houses with full 300 ltr. tank.

ive changed my mind and going with the 350L TANK/metal reel/100m microbore from gardiners.also need a few adaptors and ratchet straps and ill be sorted!!

yes i do change my mind a lot and with me i have to try every avenue to reach the easiest route!the trolley has been great but i think its time for a full van mount now plus im picking up larger domestics that are scattered here and there.

Daz, i have a 350 ltr tank and i fill it and take all the usual extras in my van, which is a 650 kgs payload astravan, i reckon i'm under the weight limit.
