you could sweep the chimney and mow the lawn as well  

And then walk the dogs  

Seriously though, if you are not busy all the time it could add £6-8.. perhaps £10 on each visit for 15/20mins work tops

yes i do around 25 cars a week for customers while doing there windows .

Funny this topic should come up. I do get asked  at least a couple of times a week if i want to clean someones car. Be that a customer or one of their neighbours

custys who want their car cleaning with a window cleaning brush dont give a poop about their car,  dont cheapen yourself mate if you want to do car valeting do it properly ,   

But know how do it,   my mate charges £40.00 inside and out but he is a professional

I'm sure there is but i think you'll find that if you offer too many services people will just want to use you and get you to paint their fence, wash their clothes, do the ironing and pick their cherries aswell while you're there.

There are specialist vans appearing that clean cars, a sort of mobile car wash/valet. I have seen a few now. I would imagine its hard to find enough work to keep you fully occupied.

what clean the windows then clean their cars?

i clean my van with a brodex brush and a converted small trad pole.i dont use the same brush for windows (as i scrub the wheels and i could contaminate the brush with oil etc).

i wouldnt do it although if your a scout doing "bob a job" it would be perfectly acceptable!!

i concentrate on mainly cleaning windows coupled with fascia/soffit/conservatory roof cleaning.


some guys finish doing the windows and get their lawnmowers out!ive had a fair few "odd job" leaflets through the doors lately offering allsorts from dog walking/gardening/tree felling etc etc.

i prefer to concentrate on the core business of window cleaning.better doing one  service really well than jack of all trades IMO.

A window cleaner has been canvassing around my area with a flyer that quotes for combined window cleaning and car washing price.

We do a few. Use the 12ft pole and brush + separate alloy wheel brush as the WFP are mostly useless. Pure Water will clean superbly and obviously won't leave any streaks so works especially well on Black and / or metallics. Pure Water won't in itself harm the paint but will strip any existing protection so re-waxing is a good idea. Most of the WFP stuff we use is listed for car valeting as well and is the most efficient way of cleaning cars we've yet to see. The problem seems to be the amount that you really need to charge for the time and water used is far less than you'd make if you used your time cleaning windows and therefore is like shooting yourself in the foot.

agree, not worth it, glossy paint finishes on cars are easy to scratch unlike windows.
If I were to clean cars for money I would'nt use my window cleaning pole (I do for my van but thats different)

if you need more work, just go knocking,  i dont get why wc want to offer laods of services,  you have a very simple busines sthat can make a lot of money,  too many people over complicate this business

Well from experience, one of the cars is a Light Blue Metallic Audi A6 and another is a Focus ST in Pearlescent Performance Blue. Both have been cleaned regularly for the past couple of years. The owner is a Pathologist with an incredible eye for detail and cleanliness. Each car is examined practically daily and neither show any signs of damage or scratching. The brush used is very soft, obviously continuously fed, isn't dropped on the ground unlike the garage jet wash brushes and regularly removed and soaked in pure water.
Major concern is the removal of paint protection so both cars are post treated with Mer. Do you have a better way?

pure water doesnt strip wax , I final rinse mine with pure water every week and it has'nt affected wax but i always top up protection with a QD spray such as FK425
