funny situation this morning
« on: May 26, 2011, 05:23:58 pm »
About 2 months ago i went and did a quote for a very simple EOT job in a standard 3 bed new build ,carpets in good shape so simplz really priced it at £135 . she had had other quotes with a variety of prices but she picked me cause she has seen me out and about and i have done some work for a friend of hers . She said she had already booked with another company ( did not know this before i gave her the quote) she said she would call them and cancel. Booked job in for today 930 am .

She calls yeaterday to check i was still coming and arranged for me to pick keys up from next door and gave me her mob number so i could call her when i was nearly fin to come and settle up. and even made the point that she had cancelled the other company when i had left from the quote and they were a bit rude about it.

Well i get there 10 min early to see another carpet cleaners van in the drive .  So i give her a bell and she is livid as she did cancel them.  so i knock on the door . i say to the chap hello think you need to speak to mrs XXXXX so i dial the number . He to be fair was totally pleasant to me although i was slightly offended that he tried to knock his price down to do the job when he was on my phone .

well he packed up  ( forgot how long that takes with a porty) and off he went not looking happy .

one thing that bugged me was yes the carpets were not too bad but all he was doing was wanding with fresh water no pre vac no pre spray  just water . he had done only about 5 sq m and they were soaked so i took it on myself to dry it first so could start a fresh.

So customer turns up to pay money in a card saying how sorry for putting me in that position but was not her fault . and a £50 tip lucky boy

so someone out there had a morning off

I was going to set off on one about how 'some' are able to do EOT's so cheaply and so quickly, but I think I'll just keep quiet ???

Hi Guys

Maybe it was magic water!!

In all seriousness though it could have been a nasty situation if he hadn't taken it well.

Cheers

Hi Richard,

Was he a supposedly professional carpet cleaner with a sign written van etc? Shocking if he was.

Wow, what a crazy guy! Splash and dash at it's best ;D

It wasn't the same bloke who cleaned that sofa you told me about a couple of years back, was it? The one with a hose pipe and a hair drier....?  ;D

The wide heat diffuser thingy on the end is a very good modern addition, you can stand the drier up on it and go out for a fAg break whilst drying the puddles on the suite then..... ;D

key as left with neighbour who let the guy in she saw the van turn up and let him straight in  . she swore blind the first guy was cancelled. and to be honest she did seem a very genuine person.  the company in question had a secretary so obviously a lack of coms.

ps  by the way i was shocked to get 50 quid extra had plenty of 5 and 10 s but not that much before

Maybe the 50 quid made the money up to the amount he was going to charge her!  Funny cos it's probably true!
