What van please??
« on: May 26, 2011, 02:52:22 pm »
Ok. I am buying a 50 litre Pure freedom trolley system. What van would you recommend?

I am assuming something like a Berlingo or Kangoo - but would like to hear the thoughts of guys and gals on here who are actually using them.

I have been told to go for a 1.5 engine as the tax etc is cheaper? - is that true and would that be good to haul a trolley and all the water around in?

berlingo/kangoo are good vans or.....
you could look to the future and go with a dispatch ready for when you put your big tank in it and ditch the trolley as it will happen  ;D

Do you "need" a trolly system?

The reason I ask is that you could buy a tank, pump, hose & reel for much the same amount.

Buy the best example of van in your price range, I wouldn't be too fussy which kind it is unless you're spending a considerable amount of coin. ;)

What is your budget?

I would have a van mount personally. Tosh has proved it's quicker and less stressful on your bones.

50 litre pf trolley? you sure? not many wcs use one of them - time spent lugging that around etc ....

daz raves about his 50 ltr trolley but he hasnt had years of wfp experience and has nothing to compare the trolley to.

end of the day if you think like daz that the 50 ltr trolley is best for your business then you crack on but im sure most chaps will say the same thing to you - van mount end of!!

ford connect aint bad mate.

i have a kangoo and its ok.mines got a 625kg payload so 300L i can carry comfortably.

im happy with the trolley.some of the old timers like dai and the other bearded guy who i cant remember the name of use 50L TROLLEYS and there in their 60s.

if you want you can just add a tank and hosereel at a later date then youll have best of both worlds.thats what ill be doing when i get a bigger van.

if you ve only got a small budget then you can pick up a kangoo cheaper than a connect.
price higher/work harder!

Use what you are driving now. You don't need a van to put that load of amateur equipment in.

ive got lots of ultra compact estate work with parking issues so the trolley is ideal for this type of work IMO.if on the other hand you have lots of scattered single accounts then i think you ll be making a big mistake getting a trolley.

250L TANK in a small kangoo and hosereel would probably be better.

I use the freedom trolley and it mostly connected to the 250litre tank but when I want more to carry I used the 6x 30litre barrels and a 25litre barrel and I use a Citreon Synergie just like a van.  ;D ;D

I've got a Transit connect Lwb which has a 900kg payload in which I've put a 500ltr upright tank. I work on my own and find this size van ideal for me. I do urban estate work and rural work and the van is not to big and not to small. I'll try and put a few pics up if I can figure it out   :P. I think van mount is the best way to go if you can afford it (had to sell my Honda blackbird to fund mine  :'(), but you'll end up with a van mount eventually I reckon. Hope this helps, and good luck with that mate.

My mate put together a diy system in a  astra van today and I'm quite surprised how good it looked, £1000 for the van from a ex valiter, 350 tank, pump, varistream etc, about £700 for all the bits...
