Between £12- £15 dependant upon access etc. My minimun charge is now £12 from £10 get work no problem. I feel for those who do any jobs for less than £10.

You feel for us ??? ??? ???

So if the neighbour of a customer asked you clean just a couple of upstairs windows for her because she was too old to reach them but couldn't afford to have the whole house done you'd still charge her a tenner at least ??? ??? ???

Tit ::)

£7-£8 in Basildon but a local windie has been putting leaflets out say £4 whatever the size, £3 first clean. He's been going a year, probably not made a profit yet though.

Simon.

At those prices he must just be reccying houses he wants to burgle.  £3 for a first clean!!!  No way!  A pint of lager must be about £3 these days!  £30 fills my car fuel tank to half full.  How can anyone live on charging £3/£4 for the cleaning of a house windows?

Nothing wrong with that for a one man band. About 25 quid an hour is OK in my book when it's bread and butter stuff you can rely on. I envy some of you blokes in UK. VAT threashold at 75K, self assessment income tax etc etc.

I pay over 200 quid a month on health insurance here. VAT starts at 17,500 (About 15K). When you are sick, no sick pay from the government etc. No benefits for self employed people. You work or you fold.

If I was in your position, I'd be reasonably happy with 25 an hour. Another point is, with the complicated bay windows etc etc that you get in UK, I'd be WFP too. I get shivvers down my spine when I see some of the pics you guys post on here.

Ive got ex council 3 bed semis at £3.50, private at £5. I can rattle a £3.50 house off in 6 or 7 mins on my own to a better than average standard. All window cleaners in my area charge similar so pricing £10 is a no-no. I will increase them in the future but with current economic climate and the fact that i earn loads im not in to much of a rush.

I did not mean to be condesending at all I just meant I feel for those window cleaners who find themselves in an area that will not stand £10 and up charge. Just doesn't seem fair!

Can't seem to say anything on here without someone reading more into it that there is.

All the best

The guys that charge £16 for a 3 bed semi are you doing £60 - £70 an hour on your own. Or because you charge more you take longer? and because your price is so high you dont have to rush? Surely window cleaners in the south arent earning £75-80,000 a year sole traders

birdy i think a lot of the guys thats are charging upwards of £15 for 3 bed semis are cleaning the bigger 3 bedders with big bay windows.they probably also have them scattered here and there and not like 100 accounts virtually right next door to each other.

if i was charging even £10 for my cheap very compact estate work i would be earning very good money indeed!

you might only clean 2 houses an hour at £15 a pop but itll be at a leisurely pace rather than trying to work faster(and harder!) to get a similar hourly rate!

i have a mixture of both expensive 3 bedders and cheap 3 bedders.

remember the guys charging higher rates are usually down south where the cost of living is considerably higher thus can justify a better price.

there are guys(semi-retired)who work near me and still charge £3-50 for full houses.they usually dont clean sills/frames and get round every 2-3 weeks and give the windows a "quick tickle" with a scrim then off to the next house!they dont do conny roofs/fascia/soffit cleaning and they tend to have lots of older customers with wooden  sash windows!

i have picked up a few jobs off these guys but clean the windows properly.clean them every 8 weeks and charge them over 3 times as much as they charge!

quality clean, longer frequency but the customer is paying virtually the same money as they were paying the old guy.this is the way i do business with new customers now.

i still have a lot of compact cheaper 4 weekly work that is good regular staple work and good cashflow but im slowly moving away from this type of work.
price higher/work harder!

And that's why your always begging for work
I seen your leaflets too ;D

  hi
i wouldnt want to do a 3 bed semi for 8 let alone 4. its got to be ten now anywhere in the country more further south.

we qt 13.00 and will drop to 12 if the custie is a haggler. Any less than that we move on there are others out there who will pay.

 regards

  john
