My transits been ok , hardly any problems at all really, its 06 plate , but old shape,

but its really poor on fuel , its 2.0 td.... and i carry 650 litres first thing .... and i get 20 mpg /.

And i fancy a change of van i think

We have a amongst others a 2008 Peugeot Boxer MWB high roof, which is fast, economical - I think! and a bit different than the trannys etc
We bought it new and so far very few problems.
Great to drive loads of space, looking for another one any time now.

new clutch about 80,000 miles New gear box about 90,000
EGR valve at 95,000
Since then another new clutch and gear box then under warrenty another new clutch and gear box
and 4 more EGR valves hoping the clutch and gear box last
I hear they have been improved on since 2006
Mine is 1.9 DR LWB and it has done 103.000 miles on an 03 plate

I got a Transit minor problems last 4 years of ownership - heard the new transits are better - drive better fuel etc.

The Trafic/Vivaro/Primastar gearbox issue is usually about the gear selection cable.  Where it enters under the box, there is insufficient protection from the water/salt  spraying up from the road.  This causes a bearing to corrode inside the box.  I'm told that there was a modification around the 55 plate.  I understand that the boxes were protected better against the water spray.  Modification or not, it would be hard for me to trust these vans again.  It was the most expensive and newest vehicle I had ever bought and the gearbox went when I had used it for less than 2,000 miles.  Although I've done well over 50k miles in it now, I still don't trust it.
Also, when replacing the clutch, the slave cylinder should be replaced as well.  Not doing this can cause problems.

Dont think I would buy one - I know the likes of VW Transporters and Toyota Hiace are more expensive to buy in the beginning but could save a lot of hassle and money in the future maybe thats the way to go?

Hiace may well be my next choice - depending on payload.  I hope to squeeze 3 more (hopefully not too expensive) years out of the Trafic first.
