They used to have a bit set up just after you came off the Forth Road Bridge coming into Edinburgh  for that purpose, every once and a while they'd be waving in suspects and like Stu mentioned it was the usual Tranny type tippers being targeted.

They used to do that all the time when I was in the building trade as we used to have a weigh bridge just around the corner, I haven't noticed them doing it anymore now the bridge is gone. I have heard that some people have installed a dumping valve to release the water from their tank when they get pulled over!!

i have seen quite a lot of people talking about how big theirs tanks are. some are too big for the vans they drive.
its not just the tank and water is everything in your van

If your van is over its weght limit it is a potential danger to other road users and yourself as the braking and handling will be affected, so it is a serious issue.
To think differently is irresponsible and makes you look like a cowboy.

the reason that these weigh bridge are open are to stop lorry/vans and even cars being over loaded.

which when there are,can be dangerous to the driver and other user of the road,


if over its a fine,but not points on your licence,and if you got a hgv leicence then that can be taken away from you.


i know cause i being there and learned the hard way.at the time i was driving a artic,and was 3.5 tons over on a axles weight,and not gross weight,which if it would have been then that another offence.
