Blackberry would have taken too long to type full story so basically been doing this bungerlow for about 10 months the last 5 WFP .... bloke been basically ok ... bit of money in fairness ,, retired from Shell .. nice car .. nice holidays .. rolex .. always playing golf etc etc but likes to tell everyone about it ... you know the type ... previous windie who i bought round off used to ooh and arh to him and tell him how wonderful he was and basically kiss the blokes ego (ass) ... as ive been there and done that i never felt the need to massage the divs ego so over the last 10 months i could tell he was tolerating my visits.

Done windows this week and went to collect payment last nite (bungerlow with 2 big leaded glass bays on front, few on side and few on back with set of patio doors, lots of plant pots £7 - was £6 but put it up a quid last month - not that price should be a factor from my side .... yes too low i know but like i say bought the round and slowly knocking it into shape income wise) ....

straight off he was moaning that I hadnt done the sills ... said show me ..."there on the bays sills i can see the bits from here" ... you mean those ants and greenfly running all over the clean shiny sills ? ..

"well you missed the sill on the french doors round back" .... the ones blocked in by 8 large plant pots and minature metal bicycle plant holders ....sorry tried my best to work around them .... "well you could have moved them, cleaned properley and put them back" .... mmmmm yes I will next time i heard myself saying and apologising for missing the sill  :o

he then went back onto the front bays and found a few grey stains on them so was well happy telling me how WFP didnt work and also threw in that a few others on the round were not happy but said it wouldnt be fair on them to tell me who it was   >:(

Got back in my van to do a little more collecting but felt myself getting wound up not because of the critisism but more to do with the "there are others that arent happy" which I rekon is him stirring the few others up on the round that he knows ... went back to see him but he had gone out so left him a little note with his money refunded telling him to find a traditional window cleaner as his windows were not sutiable for water fed pole and didnt want unhappy customers as my reputation was more important to me and thanked him for his previous business.

Did this because I think the grey stains were from the lead and therefore would happen again plus im genuine when I say dont want unhappy customers which to keep him happy would have taken too much time and effort for a £7 clean plus will maybe expose the others that are "unhappy" next time round.

Sure he will be telling people he got rid off me but will set them straight next time round ... plus if he bores others with how much money he has Im sure they will prob just ignore him when he is slagging me off  ;D

I was expecting a humorous, pithy, heel-turning "sacking", Ian.

Now you've described what you actually did it reminds me of Geoffrey Howe standing up to Margaret Thatcher!  ;D

These days I find I dont get arrested as often if I walk off and cool down and have a ponder ... stess coping statagies given to me by the prison doctors  :) but I did visualise chinning the fooker and stomping all over his fat well tanned face with my size 10's .... plus may have lost a few customers if i actually did what i wanted to do

Good for you Ian.

I once had a customer in a village that I do, that wasn't happy about a £2 price increase. She said that others in the village also weren't happy that I was putting my prices up. I didn't react to it, but if what she said was true, no-one else ever said anything about it to me. I lost her to a cheaper guy, and I remember losing her next door neighbour at the same time, but nobody else. Later , however, she phoned my wife to see if I would reconsider my price, as she has been quoted £11 by a couple of guys. I had been charging her £12 prior to my proposed increase. I should have been charging £20+ but I was/am too much of a softy!

FTW it was a split detached house with a large conservatory, on which I wiped the guttering round every time. It was probably worth 250k + at the time (several years ago).

I was pleased to lose that one!

Think it may have been because of the £1 increase but will never know for sure plus wfp a lot quicker than trad when i had to use ladders to reach the top of the windows as they are very tall on this bungerlow

More than likely he's one of these boring dings who stands in the road talking to anybody that listens, and most of them will take whatever he says with a pinch of salt.
Forget him, dont let them wind you up.Ive spent too much time getting wound up with customers,i just ignore them now and never go back.
