you could use them for both trad or wfp.
but most on here are talking about wfp.
 they come from B & q and cost £15.

pros- cheap
cons- nasty clamps

thats the concise version, if you search on here from previous posts, theres loads of info

i think they are 5m, 16 ft.
they are fine, not just for starters, alot on here use them all the time.
if youve got a trad pole already, you can use that,
its only a means of transporting a brush and water to a window

BORBRYCE

Mate I have one that is over 3 years old. The clamps slip after about 3 months but you can easily fix them repeatedly for pennies. I have better poles but still use my Harris regular.

Harris pole is a perfect starter and can be use well into your developing year of w f p. I have use mine4 for 2 years and am happy with it. The only thing wrong with a Harris pole it does not have the image. But if  budget is ware you at then its a great pole. Harris has probably been use by more windies that are prepared to admit. 8)

Have a look at this vid. Shows how to do it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Q8HhgHcz0M

Also this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbw_kCzMAZU and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXFjcfRsOrA

You can get all the fittings you need from Cleaning spot www.cleaningspot.co.uk and also get one of these:

It's on page http://www.cleaningspot.co.uk/acatalog/Universal_Pole_Spares.html

You can also use a Bently brush. It may not have the scrubbing power of a more expensive brush, but it's good enough for a starter.

Here are some pics of mine:

Oh, and I forget to say, don't sweat about the clamps. I haven't used a clamp in the last two years since I discovered going clampless. It's MUCH faster and easier. You can easily adjust the pole between windows.  To get an idea of how it works, look at this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kidu9wUtBPM

Notice in the second section from 0.32 how he just throws the pole up to the height he wants and at 1.32 he just lets it drop closed.

Poetry in motion!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure that I agree with Sensai about the fitting, though. The cone he softens and screws the adapter onto is held on to the pole by an acme thread. This is a very "fast" thread and difficult to screw up tight enough. I'd go for a screw cone insert and screw or pop rivet it into place.

They are fantastic little poles, I have been using them for over 3 years now and even though I have an slx.. I still prefer to get out the Harris pole for most of my work, I think the clamps are great, but the way I prefer to use them is clampless using the pole hose to hold up the pole, a very quick method for wfp on compact work!!  :)

IF YOU THINK 15 IS CHEAP WHICH IT IS, YOU MIGHT ASWEL STRETCH TO BUY A 18 OR 22 CLX NOT MUCH MORE THAN £100

So I could get about 7 or 8 Harris poles for the price of one glass fibre clx!! not much competition really.. I'm off to B&Q!!!!!!!!!!!  ;D

Pole: £15
Tap with fittings: £10
Cone insert:£3
Bently brush: £2
Fan jets: £12

Total: £42 plus the cost of the hose

And all the hardware can simply be transferred to a new pole as and when needed.

Add a DIY trolley and collect rainwater, and you're in business for next to nothing!
