With a teaspoon of water in tank the van will be over weight though :'(

People say that money is not the key to happiness, but I always figured if you have enough money, you can have a key made!

Jim do you think it will need a new engine soon?

I bought my TM 4 or 5 years ago, it had 2000hrs but had just had a new engine so its been fine engine wise.

What would a new engine be these days, anyone know? 1600 fitted?

How long do parts last

The advantage of a Portable is parts are relatively low cost

truckmounts seem more like a van when they go wrong

PS. I discovered when I fitted a tacho metre that the TM hour clock was running slow so it may have done a real 2,500 to 3,000 hours when I bought it.

I recomend everyone get a tacho to check hour clock.

PPS. Ian, Hi mate, did you join FT in the end?

A truckmount will last a long time as long as it is serviced and looked after. They are expensive to maintain but they give you a fantastic return on your hourly rate. Where the problems arise is when people are not turning over enough and cannot afford to maintain the equipment. A badly looked after machine is going to be a big liability and that is a chance you will take unless you know people who know the history of the machine. If the machine has frozen then damage can be done to the components that may take months to surface. From experince I would buy or lease a new machine and get an idea of what is involved before you consider yourself qualified to spot a bargain.

If you look at the picture closely there is snow on the ground and the van is on the drive, also its SORN'd so its not been used for a while.

Snow in Scotland = ice and frost!

Buyer beware.
