Open the pole and hacksaw about 10 inches away



Cut



Slide it out of the bottom. Its a bit tight!



Fit into end of original pole



Rivet it into place (or screw)



I fitted the rubber handle back on



Now put the other large section onto original pole...



And another section, follow from first step etc etc

Have you tried using it yet? It looks like it might be a bit "whippy."

Not too bad mate, i lifted it up no problem, not much whip really. Im only gonna be using it for odd window here and there, you have to remove the sections anyway when not in use.

done mine this morning ,i had the parts in the garage so i intend to buy another this week and do the same so i can reach three storeys no problem.
in effect you are making a modular pole?

Yes the old Unger no 5 section fits over the base, the Unger no 1 section will fit inside the no 1 Harris too.

Yes thats it aint it, modular pole, Bob, or wiz, how do you get around your pole hose length? I may just buy a massive length of it or maybe make an exit towards the bottom of the original pole so its easy to drop the extensions on without having to feed the pole up it

as you say i have made the hole in the original rubber handle so i can just slot the sections on god i hope im doing three storeys tomorrow

Where about did you do it? and how big have you made the hole? I dont want it catching all the while when i lift pole up and down etc, i can see that being a problem

half way up rubber handle,45 degree angle then widen it a bit with drill bit so it slides in easy
cant see it being too much of a problem as i will only need it occasionaly so any probs will be offset by the amount of time the pole is in use as against expediency
you could make a clamp device to sit on the extension handle and loop the hose on to that

Hmm, still wondering whats best to do. Surely if youve pulled your pole hose through there youve gotta leave it through it. I can just see it catching and sheering the pole hose...can you take a pic of what youve done please

i only use hi-lo sill brush from vikan, would these brushes be to heavy for these poles.

the idea of a decorators pole at first i thought wouldnt look professional but customers wouldnt give a damn about the pole im sure customers think a 60ft CF costs £50. 

what they dont know ; the cost of equipment let alone resin every 6weeks. but with mortgage and bills now its worth somthing to consider once my other poles go.

one question is how long do those twist clamps last do they need cleaning all the time.

It aint whippy tho...used without sections i dont find it whippy at all.

And handyman, as for clamps, no they dont need cleaning, and suppose it depnds on how much you use them for how long they last. Ive used them for 12+ months at a time, but for £15 its a quick easy swap over (see my other post to fit brush) and new pole again.

 Putting a hose on the inside of the pole. The way to do this is as follows drive hole just above the pipe you have just fitted at the bottom of the Harris pole for your hose to exit the pole this short be +- 10 inches fro the bottom < do this at angle .To stop the hose snagging and ripping your hose insert a 2-3 inch larger hose to work as a tunnel for your poles hole to run through> I use epoxy putty to form a neat exit hole .when this dry the exit hose and spray some silicon into this exit hole.
In regards lifting the pole do not pick up a fully assembled pole ( Mine has 2 extensions) Rather fully extend the Harris and add the extensions to the pole when it is upright and take it down the same way. This set up has worked for 2 years.
Every month I flush the pole with a taps hose and grease the plastic clamps under the screw cones. I also spray silicon on al the sliding parts and the rub the excess of with a cloth. I have developed this pole to get the best out it if you need to ask more I will tell you .AS I said in my other thread you can Make a goose neck that will you extra height or a 12- 15 inch goose neck and the top left over pieces you can make a short pole.
 And as wippy goes it can be just put a super lite brush and that will take care of most of the problem.

i use a harris for trad. im thinking of running a candle over the cone threads so it loosens easier as mine goes very tight
