possibly looking into setting van up with 2 reels, pumps and varistreams. Anyone have problems with this? Do you have the normal elbow coming of your tank and then into 2 lines for each pump. Do you get any battery probs or flow problems

I've recently done this and it works fine.  The only problem I had was that I positioned my pumps too high for my flat tank, but once I dropped the pumps to the level of the van floor (pressure switch down), it's worked perfectly ever since.

I just use a "T" piece to split the single pipe into two to feed to either pump.

No flow problems happen and the battery is fine.

A little tip is to use some electrical tape to colour code the varistreams and the hose reel that it uses, because I'd be working away somewhere and Wor Lass would muddle up the hose reels and try to reel mine in, instead of hers.

Or if I was working by myself, I'd turn one flow controller on, and then walk off with the hose belonging to the other flow controller that wasn't turned on.

I thought you got a separate leisure battery you were running your pumps off.
I don't think I would have the guts to run 2 pumps off my van battery.

Cameron has a Peugeot Partner with a separate leisure battery on a split charge relay. His van is also wired so he can change the pump supply from the leisure battery to the van's battery.

His dog must have kicked the switch accidently and within a few days the van battery was flat - it was new as well. Trouble is we both do minimal mileage and the batteries don't get enough time to charge up.

Yes, Spruce, I didn't read JSMC's post properly.  We use a leisure battery.  I haven't gotten around to sorting out the split charge relay (though I've got a flow controller that'll do this), so all I do at present is carry the battery in and charge it each day.  It's not a problem; it's got a nice carrying handle on it!

when i have needed to do this i find the flow very poor when both brushes are working and thats with the
settings on max....

Yes Darran. Havent had any problems so far ...using a 110a battery, 100psi Sureflo pump and digital Varistream.
When we get towards the end of the day we need to turn Varistream up to 5 or 6, but start day on 3 or 4.
What pump/controller are you using mate?

i do use fans and high flow, so perhaps just not enough ummphh  for 2 like this...........

I've had a 2 man set up, 2 varistreams and 2 flojet pumps for the last 4 1/2 years. If you can have 2 batteries I would recommend it. I've got thru 5 or 6 batteries over the years as 2 pumps drawing from one battery is a bit too much. They will go fine for a few months and then start playing up. The only reason I have one is a lack of space. I wouldn't recommend putting 2 pumps on the van battery, if you do make sure that your breakdown cover is up to date, as at some point you will run the battery flat.

i run two pumps and 2 varistreams of one 110amp leisure battery,wired up to a spilt relay charger,


never had a problems lesiure battery normal last 18mths,but at £68 a battery i aint to worried.

damn i sold  a leisure battery last year!!! I wont use twin set up every day though. possibly few hours friday / saturday max

If it's only a couple of times a week you should be ok. I have a split charge relay on mine as well, but I also have a lot of compact work, so the split charge relay doesn't really do too much.
