got a twin vac.. motors sounds fantastic and work fine. however, every time i switch pump on... the mains trip! 
pump was replaced and worked ok for a few days before doing this. any ideas?

If its defo not a dodgy pump or vac motor (or thier connections!)

Then it will probably be a damaged power lead or plug.

Sometimes he unknowingly pull on the power cable and this can lead to the wires getting pulled from thier connections inside the machine and plug! It has happend to me before a couple of times.

Possible water leak either internal or external to the pump/vac.
Start with checking the connections inside the plug, check the lead back to the machine for crimping/cut.
If competent look inside the machine at all wiring and connections.

Charles, The simple answer is to make sure you plug in the leads to differnt circuits in the house, the chances are you are tripping the mains because of the suden power surge especialy if the property you are cleanignis a pretty new build or rewired, the circuit breakers are very sensative nowadays. I cant really see it been the machine itself, but of course this is a possability. Whas it a fairly new house you were cleaning?

I always plug into the Cooker socket. That seems to work.

Yeah, I used to use one of those remote control plugs so I would'nt need to keep running down to the porty. But with the 2 switches going off at the same time it would always trip. Plug one into the sitting room and then the other else where into a different room so it goes through a different circuit. Then switch one pump on, the first, wait for a few seconds then hit the second.
I use transformers alot and sometimes they will trip. Ive gotten into the habit of anticipating that.

If the pump has been recently replaced look for trapped wires which could be shorting out. Check all machine earths too. If it has only tripped one house it may not be your fault, try it at home too, and follow advice on seperate ring mains. Have to say never had a problem with a twin or tripple vac. Are you using a heater too?

Had this happen to me the other week and it was the pump leaking causing it to trip . One of the pipes from the pump had split so i would go with Neil here .

Had this problem over the christmas period and found it was moisture on my pump.
take the pump off and leave it to dry.
try the machine without pump connected if it doesnt trip anything chances are the pumps going to earth.
if its a new pump just check all the pipe connections are sound and obviously your pipes arent leaking.
also just visually check the seal from porty to extractors.
you will probley find its either caused by extractor motors or pump

Before you strip any thing down
plug it in at home and try it.
I had this 2 months ago, as soon
as I switched pump on it blew, that
was with the heaters off as well.
Took it home to see what was wrong
and hey presto it worked fine and as
continued to work well since.
This house was a rental dump and the
sockets looked dodgy so the wiring
was probably dodgy too.

Is it tripping when you switch on vac1, vac2 or the pump or heater.Or just randomly.
If its randomly then you have prob got a break in the cable or loose connection at the plug or somewhere along the main power feed into the machine.
If its tripping when you switch on any single switch, then look at that item as having the fault.
As said above could be nothing to do with your machine but the property you are working in, did you try to connect to an upstairs power supply

well toading day is the day!! after reading your coments .... I feel i MIGHT be able to get to the problem! both vacs are fine, its just when i turn the pump on and thats in any plug.. in any house! (dam thing)

i had to order a new pump a few months ago (im not even got to tell you all why cos you may p your selfs laughing at me!~)

I was out when the pump arrived and didnt see it so gave the ppl i orderd from a round of f*#ks and they sent me another.. so have 2!

After fitting it.. pump worked fine for a few days jst round the house?!  If it doesnt work after everything... I may take it outside and smash it with a sledge hammer.. one 4 youtube

ps it does not have a heater!

It sounds like the end bell kit needs replacing, can get for £28 on ebay, 10 min job mate
