are gutter vacs worth it ?
« on: May 07, 2011, 09:46:55 pm »
the dozen or so times I have been asked to clean out gutters they have been full of dirt and blocked even with clumps of grass growing in them. Cleaned them from a ladder hands on.
Are gutter vacs as good as people say ? I fail to see them being able to shift that amount of crud out of gutters and my experience (anyway) tells me people only request a gutter clean once they have a problem e.g blocked gutters with grass growing in them, and what about older properties and overhanging tiles ?
I tend to pass up these jobs for that reason.
I'd invest in a gutter vac and plug it as an add on service if it worked well enough, so those of you who have got one, do they work ?

Yes they are worth it - for the simple reason WFP is worth it - no ladders - no danger

the more clogged the gutter is the better the vac works.  the majority of custy's don't think about gutter clearing until
they are overflowing but have found that they are really impressed with the systems are book a annual clean
- which is excellent as they are very straightforward

just a little something we picked out the gutter...!

First cleans with a gutter vac can be absolute sods, but you CAN get it all out.

Annual maintenance cleans (based on experience doing houses where they were cleaned within the past couple of years) will be an absolute breeze.

If you have two of you working together regularly - would you send one up the ladder and the other foot it or use a guttervac?

Which is quickest bearing in mind the man-hours spent?
It's a game of three halves!

Gutter vac every time even when their are 2 of us.

when using the gutter vac we are sure the entire gutter is cleared inc difficault to reach parts. not just the 'clumps' that  the custy can see from the ground

Yes they are, done a 4 storey (rather large) nursing home recently.

Don't think that could have been done from ladders

But thats just my humble opinion :)
