Shameless charity donation request
« on: May 01, 2011, 09:21:21 pm »
Thought I would take advantage of some good natured folk, I trust it is allowed  ??? i.e. forum rules.

My good lady wife is doing a charity ride in aid of the stroke association because of the help we received from them following my little mishap (stroke) late last year.
It involves cycling all the London bridges, 33 miles, on the 22nd May.
Not that far but at 40 shes getting on a bit now  ;D, I hope she doesn't read this.

She's just started to raise donations so not much so far so if you would like to donate anything at all please do so with my/our thanks. The link is http://www.justgiving.com/kjsimpson/eurl.axd/ae775bec075f6e4dbc4c9144eb509f28

Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul, donation made.

In the meantime (if it's any interest to you), a family member of mine had a stroke at the age of 37. He went on to make a full recovery, and he's now written a book about the subject and his experiences. If your interested in a read it can be found here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stroke-Survivor-Personal-Guide-Recovery/dp/1843104105

All the best to the Mrs,

I have a friend who recently had a stroke, a Petty Officer in the Royal Navy. He's not much older than me (38) and it really gets you thinking. He's doing great and is still the centre clown at a party... Also, a lad a year below me at school had a stroke at the age of 19. He isn't as lucky and needs constant care... Just like cancer, we are all affected somehow, or at least know of someone who is/has been.

I wish I could have given more and I wish you all the very best for the future, your wife is a credit to you.... :)

Justin, Ash, Colin & Gary, thank you all, very generous!

Might look into that Ash, thanks.

I think I'm one of the lucky one's Colin, seems I've made virtually a full recovery, physically anyway, not sure about mentally  ;)

Did a 15 mile ride with her yesterday........think she must have had her brakes stuck on, my goodness she's slow, she won't be winning any races anyway ;D
Well at least shes doing it, bless her!
Shes asked me to pass on her thanks also.
