holidays
« on: May 01, 2011, 09:09:11 pm »
What do you chaps do about going on holiday?  I work on my own with quite a spread out round.  I cant really work out how to get any time off.  Last year I used a window cleaning mate but my round was much smaller.

I'm thinkin that by next year I may have to employ someone but that still requires a lot of trust and for them to have their own car/van with roof rack etc (im trad) .

cheers

We are only cleaners, the world will go on when we take our time off. In 20 odd years no one has ever complained to me when I arrive a few weeks late in summer or xmas.

go wfp then youll get round your round quicker.catch up earlier and you ll be able to afford to go on holiday at least twice a year!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

saying that ive cancelled my holiday to mauritus in a few weeks due to having 3 weeks off due to ankle injury.no one on my round has complained about me getting round late yet.

im having 3 weeks off in august as im going to barbados for 2 weeks then new york for a few days.i have 335 customers and work on my own.most are 4 weekly, with some on 6 weekly,8weekly respectively.i find a lot of custies away in august so they are not bothered if im away as well! ;D ;D

i was only suggesting it for fun really. but i believe you could do velly well over there if you fancied living it for real/ plenty of dirty glass and the cities stretch for miles and miles too .     i met an American who had flown over there on a 1 way ticket with his son, spoke not a word of chinese but was giving it a go,as a tennis coach of all things

the reason i'm askin is cos i do mainly commercial stuff.  lots of weekly, twice weekly and every day.  has anyone got experience of using other window cleaners to do it for them?
the lack of holiday pay and sick pay has gotta be the worst part of self employed

depends on how much u trust the other wc,  i have heard of stories of wc saying people have retired to take over the jobs,  i know a wc who said that he actually employed a certain wc to get a load of work as the company was looking for this cleaner to do it,
