First soffit and fascia job weds. How do you get the black run marks off fascia? Just pure water ok, or do you add some tfr?

spray with tfr/water mix  using a pressure sprayer.leave for a min then scrub with wfp(with water turned off)followed by full on wfp.that should remove them.

alternatively you could just soak the fascia/soffit with pure.leave a min.then scrub and rinse.some marks dont come off very well just using water though so have to use the tfr.

i try not to bother with tfr and just use water if possible.if their really bad you will be better off using it though.

another thing if your using tfr make sure its the non-caustic stuff.also just spray one section at a time esp in warm weather.dont let it dry if any lands on the windows below as it can mark them.

Thanks daz. So how do you get as high up the fascia as poss, behind the gutter? Sill brush?

no need for pure water mate, try and use customers outside tap

you can use a sill brush or a good mono brush.just adjust the angle adaptor so its nearly straight.if its really dirty these can be a pain and take longer than expected.sometimes its easier to get up a ladder and clean behind the gutters with a cloth.i dont anymore though.in fact the ladders only get used once or twice a week usually for opening a gate or climbing on a flat roof.

ive got a soffit clean on a 4 bedder next week .£60.they are very clean and will only need pure water.will take me around an hour.plus £15 for the windows.so around 90 mins for £75.not bad money.ill go there around 3pm after other work.easy money!

i get a good few of these type of jobs in spring/summer.great add ons.but if they are really dirty ill charge a fair bit more or decline the job if i think itll be hard work!!

i dont generally use the customers outside taps as i think it looks unprofessional.especially if your charging a fair bit of money for the job.i do fill some of my barrels with tap water(sometimes from a previous customers tap)before i get to a fascia/conny roof job but it doesnt matter if you use pure water.by the time you ve faffed about connecting to customers tap you could be half way through the job!!!also i use 5mm hose with rectus 21 connectors so not compatible with hoselock connections on most outside taps.

Thanks lads. Managed to get£105 for two sections of 8m, a run of 10m on the side, a low level of 8m(where i'll test my best option) and two dormers.

If it goes well, should be a good job-referred to me by a trad wc I know.

Looking forward to my first one as I only went wfp a month ago
