how much would it cost in fuel to collect, or to bank a cheque? and now all you have to do is transfer it to your account with no fees. works for me, one time bad payers with constant chasing for money have become good online payers

Dont go for a virtual terminal with them then, they hold 50% of your daily takings for 60 days before they release it to your account
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

What he said. Why on earth would PayPal provide a banking service and not make anything from it?

And you can send money requests and reminders. Usually gives them a bump. I think maybe it is a little high but certainly worth it when as said before you take out petrol and bank charges for cheques or an envelope with stamp!

why dont you just offer bank transfers instead.its free!! ;) ;D ;D

SAE for cheques and collecting for compact local work.works for me.

most customers and new customers dont want to pay online and prefer cash/cheques on my round.

with all the stories of computer hacking and stuff a lot of people are wary of electronic payments in my experience.maybe its because a lot of my customers are in their 50s-60s.quite a few are the wealthy retired and pay when i clean or send a cheque.

one or two pay by BACS but its only a few.

Thats really not a bad point to be fair. Only thing is not that many people use it, ive probably got about 30 a month out of all my rounds.

Look into paypal micro payments. The fees are tweaked a bit for smaller payments.

200 customers at £15 each = £3000.00
Pay pal £142 tax deductable

Would still get them to pay direct to bank though, but some won't and if they want to use paypal tell them there is a 3.5% charge to do so!

So. 71p to avoid collecting from a customer.  That's 4.7%, or just under 1/20th.

Thus, if a typical £15 job takes 20 minutes, then if collecting takes more than one minute, you're better off moving on to the next house and doing another clean.  In my experience, collecting takes people a damned sight more than a minute to do, so you're goint to be much better off if you use PayPal than not.  I love customers who ask me to leave them a slip to pay online rather than fumbling about for two minutes finding change or writing a cheque.

Also, when did 71p get rounded off to a pound unless it's in the mind of someone trying to make a point?  Why not round it down to 50p?  Much nearer!
