Times 3 for an established proven round is a bargin from a buyers point.

Bluntly put, a round is worth whatever someone will pay for it.  I would, however, agree that 3x looks good value, when you consider that canvassed (untested, in other words) can be 2- 2.5x.

However, there is no proven formula as far as I can see.  If you want the work at 3x, then buy it.  If not, then don't.

Most important point is how many hours does it take to complete all the work ?  This will would be the deciding factor for me in how much I would pay for the work.

Probably is mate i'm crap at maths. But seeing as you're good at it, work out how long it will take to get his investment back and also factor in the cost of cleaning it and give me a figure when you (hypothetically) will break even and start to earn?

if it was domestic work mate then I would say go for it,    my only concern would be that you said its commercial and thats a big difference.

domestic in a recession is hard but commercial is much harder for some of the following reasons

*commercial work is open to the much cheaper natiional comapnys
* theres still lots of commercial going under and people losing their jobs
* there are plenty of commercial jobs taking the work in-house

I would defo make many an inquirey before you parted with your money,

but you know what,  sometimes you just have to take that punt and to coin an age old saying   speculate to accummalate

hope it works out well for you mate.

THANKS CHAPS  :)

That doesn't sound a good hourly rate! going to need to pin him down on the finer details to make sure I can make a informed judgment on what I'm going to pay him I think!

I have put up all my prices in the past month or so! so that could be a consideration!

I'm on a big push with my business this year and will also be using a local canvasser to get my work

Hi all

Well had the meeting with the chap that is selling this round and here is the details...

all work is done every 8 weeks and the total value is £4000 every 8 weeks

now he told me that he wonted x 2 half the amount however this was for 8 weeks but I said when you buy around its x the amount per month! but he said no you cant buy it at that price!

So he is asking £10'000 for the work which is a hell of a lot more than I was thinking!

Now he said you was thinking of getting a canvasser out! if you did then you pay x 2 what each job you get... x 2 of £4000 is £8000 and my round wont have first times cleans! and all customers on the books and have been done many times!

so in really time he is getting x 5 of what its worth each month and I guess that's why you see rounds go for this amount!

Anyway guys what do you think! im do have the money but need to let him know tomorrow!

Hi Poleman, If you use a canvasser it will be x2 but it will be in areas you want at prices you want, and saves having to put prices up on a round bought off someone.

The bit that would concern me is "need to let him know by tomorrow"!

A £10k investment is, I presume, quite a big deal to you (and any small business for that matter). I certainly wouldn't be rushed into parting with £10k without having the time to think it through.
