Steve IMO you only have one choice. Go with the company that trys its best to keep up with the high demand for its poles, the one that charges realistic prices, delivers on time, and is there to help you when you need it.
I will let you make your own mind up on which one that is.(or you can read up on some of the back posts)
I have used alot of other poles and find theres to be THE BEST value for money. I know of 3 other wfp companies in my town who are all using there poles and wont use any other. I think that speaks for itself.

It is frustrating when products are out of stock, however there are CLX & SLX poles currently in stock:

CLX4, CLX14, CLX22 & CLX27 - All in stock
SLX18 - In stock

We will have the following sizes back in stock end of next week:

i guess i generalised a bit which was unfair. i looked on your site and the size of poles i am interested in appeared to be out of stock and no notice on there to say when there would be any.

That's OK steve. If you click on the product picture or 'more..' button it will open up a product detail page, which on the left hand side has the 'stock back in' dates. Are the sections of a CLX removable?

They are removable, although the pole has not been designed specifically for this. To remove a section you would need to (this advice also applies to SLX, SMAX & X-Tel type poles) first of all undo and remove the lever assembly, open the clamp jaws apart and then slide the section out being careful as you slide the joint stop past the open jaws. This will take about 1 minute to carry out. We would also recomend fitting a smaller size end cap to the new 'handle' section.

To re-fit the section simply reverse the process.

Although not intended to advertise, you will notice that this post has basically that exact effect, but I'm hoping that by putting this lame sentence at the bottom it will make people less likely to moan about it.  Also, maybe it will distract attention from the fact that once again I'm using CIU like my own personal message board, like I've been told off about before.  One day I will stop basically spamming ciu with messages or i might even (shock horror) pay to advertise like other people do, but until then I'll just passively promote my gear on here for free, while trying to cover it over with ridiculous caveat at the bottom for as long as i can get away with it.

ionics have the lateral clamp and i think make the best quality poles
and you get far better quality lightweight brushes for your money

ive never tried a ionics pole but i probably wont anyway as i dont like the fact they overcharge for lots of equipment that you can get much cheaper elsewhere.

also they only use 25% carbon fibre in the grafter poles that are in the same price range as the gardiners clx.how can they be better when the clx is 50% carbon fibre?

my personal opinion is gardiners make the best poles and have excellent customer service.there are some on here who could learn a lot about how to conduct themselves in business.i also think alex has a passion for designing and bringing to us window cleaners the most user friendly poles in the world as well as making money!

Does anyone remove the sections from a CLX like described above? is it really that simple? if so then it could be the answer to my problem.
I really dont want to buy 2 poles, so am thinking maybe a CLX22, remove the last section for most of my work and put it back on for my 3 story jobs. (is 22 long enough for 3 story work)

In response to the original post, the more expensive carbon fibre poles are the way to go. Although they will cost you more the ease of use will make you work a lot faster and there for the pole will help pay for itself.

I'd stick with the gardiners pole range, simple reason being is that they are ahead of the game.  The fact that other companies copy what they do (ie ionics, lateral clamp) is evidense that they are ahead of the rest.

I think an ideal length pole for domestic is 25ft but if you like an even smaller closed length the 22 is nice.

The sections are very easy to remove.

Why split a 22 ft pole that weighs 'NOT ALOT' Just use it all day long.
I use a 30ft hxtel all day long weighs alot more than my dads clx. Cant wait for a slx 30.

1. Donates a pole to be auctioned.
2. Upgrades the pole to my requirements and does not charge a penny more!!!!!
3. Sends out the pole the very day they become live again on his website.

disagree ionics have caught up
and their new poles are far better quality
the problem you have with gardiners they make and sell cheap stuff
with them going down the road of charging more for poles
the changes are going to have to be big

the original poster also said cheap
so i would recommend jeff's brimble's pole
as for working faster that has far more to do with the brush than the pole
if you want speed go with the aerial brush

b******s, still has allot to do with the pole when working with a big heavy pole is either going to knacker you earlier or strain your body reaching awkward windows a light good quality pole will keep you less tired through the day keeping your speed up getting less tired in the afternoon.

What a numpty!   Ionics caught up? Ha, ha haarrrrrrrrr, they wish!!

I've just sold my Gardiner SL2 to a company using Ionic poles & they can't believe the difference, they're knocking time off jobs left right & centre & aren't absolutely knackered at the end of the day like they were with the Ionic poles!
