the strangest email enquiry just got me in stitches
« on: April 19, 2011, 06:28:34 pm »
Thought someone as pulling my leg but it is a genuine enquiry.

1 st email read

Dear Sirs,

We own a large 10 bedroomed Victorian Property, on the outskirts of XXXXXXX.

We have finally managed to find a carpet cleaning company that doesn't have a problem, with our way of life, and is willing to take on the work needed.

Before I go any further, most of this property is used for Bed & Breakfast, our guests, like us are Naturalists, there wouldn't be any guests around at the time of cleaning, but we would be.

I noticed by your web-site you offer leather cleaning and hard surface cleaning as a service, in each bedroom their is two leather chairs, the lounge and drawing room have leather chesterfields, with further leather chairs selected around the property.

We have tiled floors throughout the property, which we would also liked to be deep cleaned.

If our way of life wouldn't offend you or your company, and you would be willing to undertake our cleaning tasks, please let me know,

Kind regards

Mr *****

My reply was

Dear Mr ****

If you could provide me with a little more information on the hard floor eg  area in m2 and the type of flooring and how many pieces of leather furniture you would like cleaned and the sizes in seats.

regards

Richard

AAt this point i had no idea on what was coming next

the response

Richard,

I will try and sort out the information you need within the next day or so.

We actually have limited time to get all this cleaned, we are full over the Easter and Royal wedding period.

The two days we need the work carried out in are Wednesday 4th & Thursday 5th May, as we are full again over the weekend commencing 6th May.

How would you be fixed for these dates?

The carpet cleaners have asked to stay over on the 4th, so they can work later that day and start early the next morning, this of course would be available for you, should you so wish to, we would of course provide an evening meal, and the use of the pool, gym etc.

I feel I should be fair with the carpet cleaners, as they have been booked first, if they have a problem working on the same days as another local company, especially as they have agreed to honour our way and clean naked, then I will of course have to re-look at things.

We are a very loyal organisation.

Regards

XXXXXX

my response

I am afraid i am fully booked those days

regards

Richard

Bet it's still a wind up, they call themselves naturists not naturalists so should know that.
I know because Health & Efficiency magazine was required reading when I was a teenager.  ;D

Devon is a bit too far

It’s all about earning a crust and not vanity (come on the things we find in our line of work  :o you take it with a pinch of salt don’t you ;))

Sometimes an email or phone call makes you think.... "Is this the Phone Jacker or Robin Cooper?" (Time Waster's Letters)

Like a phone call a while back from Dominoes Pizza, asking if I'd do oven cleans in Liverpool, with further possible work nation-wide sounded like a fantastic opportunity, until the guy said his name was Mr Mario.... ;D

That's a classic Richard. I can assure you  you all I am not the guy cleaning the carpets. I really don't  know what I would say to an enquiry like that but it doesn't surprise me. There are some whacky folks in this part of the country.
