Was asked to price a room up today and wondered wat you lads would approx charge for the job.
The carpets 25feet-22feet 80-20 woolmix carpet,pretty old but in good nic.(light cream)
Also your preferances on what chems to use.

There are many ways to price. The simple way is to price by the hour, how long would it take you? That room should'nt take you long to complete. What are the competition charging for that size room?
You need to make a profit and cover all costs.  Have a good think about best business practice to look professional.

Thats the way im doing it.Was thinking of more around the £100.Cant realy charge by the hour at the mo as its taking me forever.
Im kind of learning on the job.I tell the custy this and there happy enough.
Dont get me wrong if i thought something was out of my league id tell them this but so far it seems prity straight foward. :

^^ ha ha thats what i was thinking.

Personaly i think if your new and dont do such a great job......  lets be honest, you wont if your just starting out then you shouldn't charge a high price. Why charge a high price when your not worth a high price?? or the clean you provide isn't one of £100 value? with no training or experance? What machinery you got?

Not having a go just keepin it real.

Using my powrflite 1085,getting training as soon as I can find a local course and yeh it's a big house.I clean the windows.
He just wants the carpet to have a good once over before he has it refitted in another room.
He's said he doesn't expect miricles and to make sure I don't underquote on the price.

£100 too cheap IMO you'll cut your throat later in cleaning life, do him a test piece and see what the reaction is then measure up accurately which is a bit like a dramatic pause so you keep him dangling and provinding you get the desired results from your cleaning then hit with £150.

I'd go for £220 myself but I'm poor and need the money.

How much 

This room he said was nearly  8m x 8m (23' x23') which is a very large lounge. How much would you charge then?

That's some sq m for a lounge.
I've done 2 bed houses with less than that
area. It's all one room though so would go
for £96 or £1.50sq m.

with derek on this one, If local £100 tops easy couple of hrs at most and would probably have tea and a chat too and definately not plash and dash either before you try to throw that at me. I don't know how some of you haven't been on watchdog yet!

Some high prices been mentioned. Alot of sheep hearding  going on maybe   i'm more of a sheep dog.

I have no idea what 23 feet by 23 feet looks like but typicaly i dont really go over £70 - £80 for a large room (has to be pretty minging at  that price too). Unless it had alot of nasty stains and odour issues then the fee would  be higher for more work to be carried out.

A while ago I was asked if I could clean up after another C/C hadn't done that much of a good job. 3 days after the other C/C had visited, I cleaned the carpet which contained a lot of soot and the watse water was black.

Giving the customer the bill and a warning them of using cheap carpet cleaners, they said that he'd actually charged more than me  I was happy with a little over £50 an hour, they were very happy with the job...

Goes to show that even the "Reassuringly Expensive", aren't necessarily the best.....
