New Van....
« on: April 15, 2011, 08:51:52 pm »
I've been offered a Citroen Relay 2002, 50,000 miles. £2k + My Combo PX...

Is that a good deal?

I have a Citroen Dispatch and its as solid as a rock. My next van will be a Relay.

Citroen is impressing me so far.

Go on Autotrader and see if that seems competitive in your area.

I would be looking at £1800 withiut the p/ex

Sounds like a dealer so you are going to pay inflated price over private.
Its the convinience of getting rid of your "old" van that maybe attractive.

Mine was a 52 plate and went well and didnt cost a lot to run and maintain.

Always best to sell your own van privately.

How much will he do the Relay on its own for? I wouldn't pay more than £2100 for it with that age and milage.

I paid 5k for my Transit but its a 2006 and only done 33,000 miles.

I seriously wouldn't buy such an old van.  Nor would I buy a brand new one either.  Takes a bit of time and patience but vans always come up which are a couple of years old with low mileage and haven't been thrashed around by couriers.  They're normally from liquidated companies so plenty around at the moment.

p.s. my cousin is a motor dealer so he searched his usual auction houses for a while, eventually the perfect contender comes up, just don't be impatient and grab the 1st one that almost fits your needs.  If you strike up a good relationship with a local dealer he'll be happy to search for you until you find what you need
