Im a bit of a Gardiners fan (not a plant though honest)

Love their poles, bits and bobs, resin etc etc quick dispatch time however their taps are flippin awful for longevity point of view ... usr the ez snap 1 hand release type which is great for about 2 days then no longer 1 hand release... after a few weeks their hissing out water so tend to replace the outlet when it starts to leak except today the last new one i had lasted for about an hour before it broke so now need complete new tap as half of the broken bit still in there ... guess I dropped it or crap batch ?

These things cost about £11 complete so am I expecting too much from a longevity point and careful not to drop em as well.

I'm sure gardiners would respond with a helpful and positive solution, possibly even recommending a product outside their own range that could suit you better. However, the extreme (and often inconsistent) responses from Forum Admin as regards Gardiners may mean that they will stay quiet. Put your e-mail in your profile & I'm sure they'll respond off forum though.

used to have 1 but a customers dog decided he wanted it ... big rotty and woudnt give it back ... when i wasnt looking he had chewed it off the hose

They sell a little insert that cures the problem of stiff hose spurting water down your leg. Only works well on the pole side of the valve. The water pressure should seal the hose on the feed side.

Gardiners sell them now. I had the same problem with the yellow hose - it's too stiff and when it bends it leaks.

i had the same porb today with flow control valve leaking down my leg and plastic type think il change to metal or the 1 in the pic above which would yous say is best

I just can't understand the way people set their rectus/ez snaps up like this. For a start i use a similar tap but its all metal so can take a good bit of wear and tear. The female rectus on your tap should be a male fitting, because when the tap is off then no water is going to come out of it, and the female rectus is a waterstop unless plugged in. Also when you reel in and invariably drag the tap across the floor and chaff the rectus fitting, a female fitting is around a tenner to replace when it knackers and a male (which i use on the tap) is £1.50. When the tap is disconnected from the pole, if you use gardiners system of male rectus/ez snap on the pole hose then its drips water out when you stow it away, if like me, you use female rectus/ez snap on the pole hose it does not drip water out and lasts a lot longer. Follow? Ok then, you just gotta replace your taps for metal ones and change all your males for females and visa versa, simples !!!

 Get mine off of the Bay. Just type in 6mm petrol tap and the black and red one will jump out at you!

I got exact same set up, but the last batch of rectus i got from gardiners which are in the pole dont seem to stop the water coming out when disconnected...

£5 for a female. Gardiners (from what i can see) don't sell a female threaded female rectus 21 type fitting.
