I have just fitted a new flojet pump to a dial type cleaning spot variflo. my old pump had the pressure switch taken off so when you disconnected the pole from hose/reel the pump would continue running until you switched it off at variflo. So..... I thought that now i have fitted new pump with pressure switch that if i disconnected pole or turned pole tap off the pump would stop and then click back on when i turned the flow back on? but the pump still runs building pressure and has to be turned off via variflo. Does anyone have any ideas?

Not all electronic pump controllers have the electronic pressure switch feature. Not sure about the Variflo though.
If the controller doesn't have an electronic pressure switch, then the manual one would have to be used in conjunction with the controller IMO. The pressure switch would switch the pump off, but the controller would slow the pump down to reduce the amount of water to the brush head.

Thanks Spruce. when i turn the hose tap off, the pump still runs full pelt until i turn off at variflo

I have always used Shurflo pumps with Varistreams ( the early manual controllers and the later digital contollers) and they have the electronic pressure incorporated into their design which makes the Shurflo pressure switch redundant. Several years ago it was the only controller that had both flow and pressure controls. Most of the others at the time were flow controllers only. I appreciate that recently a whole range of controllers are now available that have a variety of features - split charge relay, temperature of water, voltage of battery as well as being a pump controller.

just been on cleaning spot site to see if my controller has dead end detection but they dont sell it anymore, its a couple of yrs old i think? has the extra wire for a split charge relay so not an ancient model.it has the same red and white branding as the ones they sell now only with a dial instead of buttons.

If you have a pressure switch on the pump that should work if it's wired in properly ie in line with either the positive or negative. It might just need a little tweaking, there should be a screw on the switch that will adjust the pressure that the pump stops at.

If the flow controller has dead end detection then the pessure needs to be set properly on the flow controller.  That would be done by either pressing a sequence of buttons or by a dial on the inside.

The other thing it might be, it air before the pump and in the pump, that would cause a pump to continue.
