have you ever told a customer to sack you
« on: April 09, 2011, 08:38:45 pm »
I have one that gets on my nerves since day one 3 and a bit years ago.

There is never a complaint about the windows, she just feels the need to yap and for long periods and likes to moan and check I haven't missed the frosted glass or door, I don't mind any of that. In fact she always tells me how good I am :D

But she goes on and on and on and on. She hates the change with wfp and I have put up every argument under the sun and checked results and offered to come and check again when dry. It got to a stage when she knew she was not going to win this battle when she all of a sudden recommended a neighbour down the road who is a lovely old dear, but on the next visit she tried a new trick, and said seeing as I have recommended you to lots of customers (1) and got you work will you not just do mine like you used to? I said no of course as as I have proven time and time again the windows are fine, she got a bit stroppy and tried to put me in my place. But this time I leaned on my pole took a deep breathe and said look you have two choices, accept the method or sack me, what is to be? her husband walked out as he usually keeps well out of it and paid me and said thanks see you next month, and shoved her indoors.

Anyway seems to have done the trick as she doesn't talk to me any more ;D and the husband pays.

Any way who thinks I have the patience of a saint to have kept doing them for 3 years

I once had a very similar customer, a nit picker etc. I had to trad her house (farm house) as the windows were in a bad state. I'v lost count of the times I was going to drop her! Anyway, she had all the windows restored & repainted, great I thought, next time I'll wfp them, she'll hate it & we'll part company.
So, gets there on the said showdown day & starts with the pole. Out she comes, running, shouting "what's that thing", "what are you doing". (right, here's my chance) "Oh, this? it's the latest technology, it's called the splash & dash system"!!!!!!! it felt soooo good too UNTIL....................................
She found this hilarious, the windows dried perfect, she sent me a text later that day saying thank you & how good the windows looked & we've been great friends ever since!!!!!!!! :o :o ;D ;D

I like the fussy customers because they keep you on your toes . . . . a lot of customers will not complain even if the windows are not up to standard !        So they are like your " clerk of works " !   ;D

I agree with that, there's a lot of customers who wouldn't know if you had cleaned them or not coz the insides are so bad, and I dislike doing them almost as much as the whiners!

This thread did make me laugh though, have a customer who could almost be the same woman! Her favourite thing to get me to do is move the garden bench away from under the window to stop the water from dripping on it. I tried to not to laugh at her one day, as she asked me to do it when I was cleaning in the rain!!
