UK Domestic Cheque Guarantee Scheme closure
« on: April 09, 2011, 01:04:15 pm »
Recieved email from my bank

Research commissioned for the Payments Council estimated there has been a reduction of around 70% in the use of cheques over the past five years, mainly due to large retailers such as supermarkets and petrol stations no longer accepting them.

As a result of this decline, the UK Domestic Cheque Guarantee Scheme is closing on 30 June 2011. After this date UK banks, will no longer be able to use the scheme to allow customers to guarantee cheques.

Yeah I would say,it took me a good couple of months to get my system up and running, but I had to start from scratch, and open a merchant account, before I could get the system running..

This was going to happen sooner rather than later. Cheques will be gone completely soon.
Will have to get a card terminal then
