Slx Extension
« on: April 04, 2011, 08:13:19 pm »
Has anyone extended their Slx 30 by 1 or more sections (ie 7 and 8 sections)?

If you have, how have you got on with it?

Cheers Dave

I recently extended a 5 section SLX to 6 sections  (I think that's probably 25ft to 30ft).  It's just fine.  Apparently you do have to specify Mk1 or Mk2 though as I think the Mk1 started from a narrower (or was it wider?) section at the brush end.  It would reduce confusion if manufacturers stuck to pole lengths rather than "reach" lengths.  I'm still waiting for a 3 foot dwarf window cleaner to sue them all under heightism legislation  ;D .

Cheers Chris

I see on Gardiners site that they sell 7 and 8 section, either in base or normal section. Ill give them a ring again today and order a Number 7 and number 8 base section.
Seems a cheap way of extending pole by 12 feet  ;D

am I right in thinking that when you want to gain 6 ft youll need 2 sections as the base section of current poile gets made redundent as youll need a carbon section then a new base section....
So to gain 6ft its going to cost you about £180

Dont think so mate, when you add a section, the existing base section becomes a "normal " section (if you know what I mean!).
My no6 section is 37mm o/d and a new no7 section is 37mm i/d.. ;D

Id double check this to make sure as I think youll need 2 sections to gain 6 foot as Im sure the base section is thicker, think it would become a lot heavier with 2 base sections..
