hi guys how would you remove cat and dog hairs out of rugs when you clean them ? is there any special tool you can buy to remove hairs ,or a way of doing it ? please any thoughts .

Hi Angelo... I have a few that I use from ime to time...
first.. while the rug is wet I will groom it with a carpet brush... that is after a good rugbadger and vacuum session

Remember your colour test!

pressure washer ... but you need to have the experiance... please do not atempt this without propper training

Rubber Glove ... wipe by hand...

then you can try a pet grooming brush you can get from a pet shop

OR you can bring it down to our plant for cleaning when you come to collect your machine this week...

Guy opened door three nasty little dogs were jumping all over me after I told dogs to go back guy did not like that

Took a look inside decided this was not my type of customer as he only had a hallway carpet and wanted a cast iron guarantee and I did not like his attitude regarding dogs jumping over me and it was clear problem was more than a little girl thingy cat.

I would be interested to know what you mean by saying" dont attempt this with out prper training" I am guessing you are reffering to saturation cleaning !   

Most of my rugs i clean are cleaned in this way and the method has been demonstrated many times on sdo etc, its not difficult and virtualy fool proof,from your remark it makes it sound as if it is fraught with problems, please could you explain iyo what the pitfalls are, the only downside to this method is the drying times .

Hi All

With regards to be trained before you attempt saturation clean on rugs is due to some readers on here following the advice and ruining the rug (shrinkage, delamination colour run, mould growth... to mention a few) and then come banging on my door saying I said it can be done...
I do agree it is easy to do but believe me it is not the answer to cleaning all rugs.
I think it is wise to consider how your advice would be applied before you advise..

If you follow out Daves procedures lets say no problem

Dave is highly experienced

I think the main problem is drying which could lead to other problems

I have pictures from Dave drying a rug on a shed roofs when he helped a member out.

Certainly it makes sense Pierre, but i think a little common sense as used by c/c proffesionals working on any carpet cleaning should overcome these problems, as already mentioned drying been a bug bear, over exposure over a of time can  of course cause delamination as can pet urine this applying only to rugs which have a primary backing
and, i certainly wasnt giving advise, just trying to put thing into perspective.

Go to pets at home and buy a pet brush with the fine metal needles, buy the easy clean one only about £10
I would be lost without mine now, very good on black sock bits too on carpets

I was not implying that you said Dave was inexperienced , in my speed I was trying to say that if an experienced cleaner followed Daves methods to the letter apart from drying they should have no problem.

However if you miss a bit out or improvise this is where problem arrises.

Also Dave extracts with powerful truckmount , I am not convinced portable is up to dealing with saturation cleaning unless drying tent is available
