Sills after WFP clean
« on: April 01, 2011, 01:30:31 pm »
I'm cleaning sills and frames when WFP.  Problem I'm finding is that the there is so much muck between underneath of bottom frame and sills that after sills have been cleaned dirty water keeps leaching out and making the sills stain.  The glass is fine but the sills look bad.  Apart from going back in 2 hours and wipeing them what do you do about this?

cheers

What I would do is, Do all the top windows first as you do, then go back to the first window you started on, wrap a cloth around the brush and then wipe the sills..

Just keep flushing them out until it stops ,rise rise rise ::)
Normal only needs doing on first clean.

It was a first clean.  I couldn't believe the amount of crap that was coming out of gap between bottom of frame and sills.  I think as has been suggested wiping the bottom frame after I have rinsed will be a good idea as it will stop drops going into gap.The gap had moss in it !!

its worth getting it all out on the first clean so just put up with it as on the future cleans it will be alot easier, try cleaning sills with water off.

sometimes we go over the ground floor with a micro wipe .... we also use sills brush with all our wfp work

This is what we do on A FIRST CLEAN.
Get the ladders out after all frames glass and sills are cleaned(wfp) then hand clean all the sills with a brush and a cleaning substance we use on upvc. This leaves all the upstairs sills (the ones you can reach with a ladder) Nice and shiney and a so easy to get spotless on your second clean.
It takes time but the customers like it. you can also check for spotting on the upstairs while you are up there.
Works for us

whats the point going up the ladder cleaning the frames and sills, then coming down and cleaning them wfp!

its one or the other really.

yes on fisrt cleans i can see your point but business time wise its pointless imo

If I get sills which leach all the bits out, I block one of my pencil jets and squirt the 1 remaining jet into the muck and it washes it all out in no time, I also wipe the bottom sills down EVERYTIME with a cloth aftyer I've cleaned them.
