if your gonna get one of these you need to get the hdi if it is a peugeot or the jtd if it is a scudo im not sure what the turbo version of the dispatch is. i have 2 of the turbos and 1 of the non turbos and the non turbo is gutless! dont buy one the turbo tjhough are great and drive just like a car. The first one says it is a hdi but it cant be as it is 1.9 and the turbos are 2.0. IMO et a turbo one of these that has been services and you cant go wrong.

they both seem a bit pricey to me, I waited ages and eventually got a 2003 1.9 d peugeot expert for 3.5k including vat with 39k on the clock, all the other garages were wanting 3.9k+ vat for same van with 70+k on the clock,

Keep shopping around mate, by the way they are good vans.

and I disagree with matt3 yes they are a bit slow but I am never in a hurry to be anywhere so they suit me just fine

rubbish i have both and can compare them , if you want a van that pulls great and drive like a car regardless f tank ull or empty then get a turbo, if you are happy pootling about and having to crawl up hills with a full tank get a non turbo.

probably to close to the payload, most I have in mine 400l plus a hundred in containers sometimes and I wouldn't want much more to be honest.

Or this one?

It looks a bit grubby for 35,000 miles.

Cheers guys, you've been really helpful.

I'll have a look at a Fiat Scudo.

What sort of mileage should I be looking at, realistically, with a budget of £5K (though I can go to £6K at a push, but would rather not)?

70,000 miles max?  Or doesn't mileage matter that much?  I see some fairly new vans with really quite high mileage, so I guess most of these would be motorway miles, so is mileage a big factor?

Tosh, diesel engines don't really bed in until about 80-100K
If they have a full service history and the previous owner has looked after it you could get 300-400K out of them.
I know taxi drivers who have 250-300K on their clocks.

I am in the market for one of these, the first one looks better than this one. Even though the miles are better, whoever had it really didn't look after it. If they don't look after the outside there is a good chance the they did nothing with the innards either.

I like the first one, if I was up that way I would be round having a butchers in the morning. I have my eye on a new shape for about 6k just up the road.
if it is dirty it is fair game
