« on: March 30, 2011, 06:32:42 pm »
Im about to buy a trolley system for my round as i dont have a van,i was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to advise me on whether this will do the tops for me in a shift with 8 25L containers and my worker trading the bottoms. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110648720177

a NO! from me mate.

if out of a car save the funds and get a esr16 backpack from john hewitts site - great bit of kit!

just carry it tho! 10 m of hose from it ... do the front... pick it up and go round the back...

if doing tops only you should be able to do 3 - 4 average sized houses with it.

then just fill it up with your 25ltr barrels...

i have this bacpack and i cant fault it - has a flow controller on it (5 speed) but the lowest speed no.1 is totally fine!

so that £130 spent. leaves you with a good amount for a good pole eg Gardiners - clx 27ft pole.

end of the day just because you havent got a big van with a top notch big money system in it, the results are the same = clean windows!

i would def get a good pole clx or slx from gardiners.

then in the future if you get a van with tank, the backpack is handy for places that require it - mid terraces ...

clx poles have a good closed length, so you have a car then that would help ....

Totally agree with the above, spend the money on a decent pole and not the 30 ft fibreglass bendy one in the link.

ESR16 has a handle so you can just carry it by holding.

I've just bought one from polarbrite,it comes with a speed controller.

saying that thou for those 2 weeks i used it and i really paid a full price lol :-[ it was like magic for me compared to laddering those massive bay fronts!but sure as hell not magic the price i paid comparing!

The thing is crystal  he prob has a mate telling him to get a trolley/ backpack and who you gonna listen to? not all advice is good advice. And you guessed it i struggled with a trolley for 2 yrs too.on the advice of well meaning friends. however i do agree with crystal if you can afford it which you can if your gonna spend £500+ on a trolley. buy pieces of kit independantly, go van/car mount even if you can only have a smallish tank. you will work faster and be less knackered at the end of the day.
WE CLEAN BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT WITH WATER FED POLE WHEN WORKING AT HEIGHT.

I hear what your saying guys ,ideally id have a car/van mount but most of my work i like to get my worker to drop me off at runs of houses while he goes and does odd ones scattered about so i reckon a wcw backpack at the moment is the best idea and then get a van later on in the year, thanks for the advice and saving me a few hundred  :)

Backpack if you're working out of a car.  Do all 'tops', conservatories, everything that's leaded or Georgian, and all awkwardly high windows with the backpack.

Get a small DI system to produce water on the move.  I only take five barrels of water out with me, and on the rare occasions I need more, I top up at a customer's tap using the DI bottle.
