does anyone know the formula, to use in ms excell, to add VAT to a given number??

I use the simple formula *17.5%. e.g. if the amount is in cell c8 then in d8 type =c8*17.5% that will give you the vat amount. For the total, in e8 type =c8+d8 and this will give the total inc vat. Get back to me if your stuck.

Going the other way about- if you multiply the full amount by .148936 it will give you the amount of vat in the total amount. If you look at a calculator keypad the no are in sequence round the pad except for 36 being the other way round.
Just another bit of useless info.

Another way to find the vat content of a total is to divide by 47 and then multiply by 7
